MORE BS LIEING

Add Sterling Chevrolet in Sterling Virginia to the list. I just got screwed. Lee9710 on the board had an order that i was gonna pick up from him in Virgina and get it shipped to me so we made a deal and I have been talking to the dealer for WEEKS now and was told over the phone(unfortunately) several times that it was gonna go for MSRP. So i have been watching and waiting and finally found out the car had been shipped to them so i called today to make sure everything was ok. I spoke to the dealer and he said everything was good and the car should be there soon and then we hung up. I few minutes later I got a call from a Manager to "go over pricing" he told me that i may have been given some mis-information on the price. Of course i knew what was coming the a$$hole then proceeded to tell me they were charging $2K over stiker to which i replied I was told SEVERAL times by the sales guy that is was for MSRP. He said that it was not right and i was gonna have to go $2K over to which i replied "No thanks". So now both I and Lee9710 are getting screwed they said they will not return his deposit until i picked up the order but after they changed the price after lieing to me i can not pick it up. So i have a feeling they are gonna STEAL(because thats what it is) his deposit. I am at a total loss and just dont know what to do. I know it is in no way GMs fault but this is just WRONG. WE were plainly LIED to.

Can they take the deposit? If you deposited money on the initial agreement and the agreement changed, you should be able to get your deposit back I would think.

nothing in writing cause i was not the original person who ordered i am not sure if Lee9701 has anything i sent him a message hopefully he can get it for the price they told him. As far as the deposit goes idk how it works i just know i was told he would have lost his deposit if i did not pick up the order and i was happy to do it but now they are changing everything on me so it seems that he might lose his money I hope not.

well sucks, but split the deposit in half, you both lose, but both win in the long run

I am not condoning the action of the dealer but the dealer has all the options here. If I understand correctly, you are trying to buy a car that someone else ordered, right? That person should not be playing salesperson unless he actually bought the car first, it is his car that he is selling to you. The car is the Dealer's car! Dealer can do what dealer pleases with it now that the original order dropped out of the deal. So why can't the dealer make profit from a broken 1st deal? He has every right to sell it to anyone for a profit. Sure the salesperson might have been telling you MSRP based on the original order's pricing but you have to wonder if the salesperson informed the Manager about the change in buyer. The dealer may suspect that the person who ordered the car SOLD his order to you for a profit. This happens! You can't prove that didn't happen and you can't make the dealer believe anything.
Now, if the person who originally ordered the car at MSRP, put down a deposit, and wants to buy the car and the dealer breaks the original deal, then that is not cool.

Same thing happened to me in Miami with Kendall Chevrolet. They promised $500 below MSRP to me for months and the day I walk in and bring in my checkbook, they want $5,000 over MSRP.. I felt so angry it was hard to keep from yelling.. I can't wait till I drive into their lot and point out that they missed out on a reliable and returning customer they could have had since my wife was going to purchase one next year as well..

Dude, I could have told you to stay away from that dealership. They are scum. They failed me on my state inspection once so I would have to pay their outlandish repair price. They failed it for "play in the steering wheel".
They wanted $1000 to fix. I said, no thanks fail me.

Took pink fail sticker off, went to a closer inspection place and passed no problems. Even asked them about the steering wheel, and they said it was fine.

But this dealer was marking up Z06s too like 15k.

For future reference, stay away from NOVA. They are kinda in a "bubble" financially. To many rich people.

I don't think he should have to split Lee's deposit. Technically Lee backed out because he found another car.
Sounds like Lee was going to lose his deposit anyways with out Phenicks buying it.

So really Lee unfortunately should foot the bill for the lost deposit.

Phenicks have you talked to Lee yet? B/c he is about to get screwed. You may want to get him involved so you two can attack this.

My problem is that they told me for A MONTH that it was gonna be MSRP. If they would have told me right away it was gonna be over i would not have had as big of a problem with it. I spoke with the dealer MANY times and each time he assured me that it would be MSRP for over a month. I have not spoken with lee yet i have sent him a message i hope we can work something out.

That's definately a "Bait & Switch". Sorry to hear you went through that.

I went in to order my Camaro in my Police Uniform (because I was on my way to work) and he told me I was getting it at MSRP. So we'll see if he'll hold up to that end of the deal. (Champion Chevrolet in Houston TX off of Hwy 6)
