6MPG Fuel Economy Difference In Using Regular vs. Premium!?

Read a lot of threads about what type of fuel to use, etc, but nothing that mentioned anything like this:
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Power...ro&srchtyp=ymm

I am assuming it is some sort of error; no way there is a 6MPG difference in regular vs. premium. I only run premium in my 6MT SS, but figured I'd see ya'lls thoughts on this. I am getting the 18MPG listed on the website on the highway daily.

Seems like it is reversed of what normally happens regular vs premium. Would not be surprised if data is wrong ie switched. Chevy might have an ECU map for regular that is totally fuel economy oriented thinking those customers are more concerned with cost. I get 16-18 combined mostly city on premium. I easily get well into the 20s on the highway, and your 5th and 6th gears have the same overall ratio as the SS.

Edit: the manual premium mpg must be for the ZL1, possibly the Z28. This is a data screw up.

yeah my SS cant crack 20 over 60mph, but idk what speeds they determine highway fuel economy at; probably some BS like 55MPH which are city road speeds here. oh well.

The first 2 V8s are for the SS, the other two are for the ZL1 (as indicated by the word 'supercharged' in the descriptor)

The fuel type listed is only the minimum required according to the manufacturer, the cars are tested with the recommended fuel type (which in the case of the SS is premium).

Honor First, how long have you had your '14, is it still in the first couple thousand miles? Fuel economy is usually poor for the first little while.

That sounds pretty bad... do you cruise in 4th or 5th or something? I would think you should at least be at 21.

His car is still new though, in a little while it should improve a bit. I think most people tend see an increase sometime in the 2-3k mile range.

My 2010 SS LS3 (for sale by the way) get 26mpg @70 mph on the highway ... And around 14mpg in the city when I keep my foot out of it.

My ZL1 on the other hand gets 19mpg on the highway and 13 city, when driving like a normal person.

a little higher I think, 60-65. after that wind resistance and drag start to drive efficiency down

idk guys, dont cruise in 4th or 5th, i set cruise at 65mph dead on every day and go, and the road is 99% flat except for going up when the highway becomes an overpass.

Please define normal person. I don't know too many of those. Especially among car guys.

Your comparing apples to orange, the V8 with Super was a Supercharger, The V8 with Reg was not. I tried several time between reg and Hi-test and always got more with Hi-test, but just a little more about a mile more.
