Mustang gone...whats next? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Totaled my 2011 Mustang this past Friday night, not confirmed with insurance but there is no hope for the thing. Frame is split and crumpled and the whole front end has to be replaced/rebuild.

**Before people start a bash thread....I wasn't the cause of my car being totaled...some girl ran a red light and hit me coming off a green light on my way home from work**

So, with that I am now in search for another transportation device.

Went to the Ford dealer and got in a 6 Speed 2013 Mustang GT (5.0), learned I can't drive that....so I took a automatic 2013 5.0 on the highway. Honestly, the only difference I felt was heavier steering and a slight kick upon hitting the gas in the 5.0. If I closed my ears I would have thought I was back in my 2011 V6.

Just off whim I drove my rental truck to the GM dealership to look at Camaros, just to make myself love the Mustang even more. Figured they were crap, like we all know they are.

Got into an automatic 2013 2SS/RS and took it for a trip down the freeway....holy chit I couldn't believe what happened.....

I fell in love with the Camaro. It pushed me back with every gear change, traction control came on during acceleration, the HUD is not cheap like I thought it was, the steering wheel is nice, and the NAV is good.

I still can't believe that I walked out loving that car, but **** it is good.

I don't want a Camaro....my friends would laugh at me....but it was so good.

I am now looking for a 2SS/RS.

Is the Camaro SS really better than a 5.0, or is it just in my mind?

The point of this thread, besides letting out my utter confusion and frustration with this situation I am in is: Do any of you have any suggestions for what options to look for in a Camaro 2SS/RS?

1LE is a nice package.

Yea, wait at least until wednesday when the new 2014 refresh is revealed and see what your decision is then. A 2SS/RS pretty much comes with everything available. I'd look into the 1LE package if you are into racing

I can't wait until the reveal, I wouldn't wait until the release anyway.

I also don't want a 1LE, I don't race....I just drive fast.

I think the insurance on a 1LE would kill me, as a 18 year old male....lol

This! I was shocked how much different the same car can be with the 1LE package! If I buy another before the 6th Gen, it will be a 1LE.

18 years old and you just totaled a 2011 mustang. Your insurance is going to be insane. You may want to check the rates on an SS before you get your hopes up.

Perhaps it wasn't your fault?

The only other incidents I have had are a blow out, someone merging into my car without looking, and a door ding from a parking curb that was really high.

As mentioned the 2014's are being revealed sometime this week. Might want to peak into that to see what you are missing if you pull the trigger early (usually its pretty significant stuff each year).

That being said, I've owned a 2012 automatic 2SS since last June and couldn't imagine getting another car. Really they are the perfect balance of power and beauty, they are unlike anything else on the road. With a 13 2SS you will get mylink (standard), HUD, leather seats with heating, and your choice of the L99 (automatic) or LS3 (manual). The dual exhaust option is definitely tempting as the stock exhaust many claim to be quiet. And I ended up jumping on the polished wheels which look great. Either way, you can't go wrong with whatever you get. Make sure to post pics.

Yes! I love my Camaro. Its not just a car. Its my toy and my hobby. If you enjoy it, who cares what your friends think. In the end, it is YOUR car.

How is the aftermarket market on these cars? I know for parts for my Mustang I could go to 3 websites and buy everything I needed, what are the sites for Camaro parts and upgrades? I never have been able to find any through google. Is there like a Camaro vesion of AmericanMuscle.com?
