After spending the winter thinking it over, I finally decided to pull the trigger on a 2013 VR ZL1 M6. I decided it was time to let go of my modified 1999 Z28 that i have had for over 13 years and sell her.
I agonized over the options and was set to order one in early March. Went for my first test drive of a white zl1 with black wheels and it confused me from everything I had planned to order. I went in thinking red with silver wheels and no suede wheel. This white car tempted me to change my mind and I left without ordering. 2 days later I read that 2014 would be a refresh year, so I decided to wait and see what the changes were. I was hoping for cool LED tail lights and a bump over 600 horsepower. The refresh left me disappointed! Now what to do? I decided that I loved the black wheels after seeing them on the white car, but I always love red sports cars. Then I got completely crazy and decided I wanted to check out the new GT500. Drove it and I liked it a lot. Now what to do?! After much agonizing, I realized my favorite thing on the Shelby was the tail lights and the power, but everything else was better on the ZL1 IMO. Also, price was a big factor. The Shelby I wanted was $10,000 more than the ZL1 I wanted to order with the options I wanted. Decision made. Found a VR 2013 ZL1 with black wheels locally and picked her up the next day. Love the car and it was worth all the back and forth decisions!

2013 Victory Red ZL1 picked up 4/2/13. M6, NAV, ECF, suede package, black wheels. 221 miles of perma-grin so far! This break-in period feels like forever!

Options I wanted and have on order, ZL1 front mats, indoor cover, subwoofer.

Sorry for rambling, I'm just really excited! Also, this forum rocks! Learned a TON about the car before I even drove one!

i did the same as you. I checked out the shelby. I loved the engine and the recaro seats. It was 10k more then the zl1 and they wanted 3k over sticker. Picked up the zl1 in feb for 3k under sticker. My car is pretty much identical. Nice to see another metro detroit car as well.
