RX or Elite Catch can

Hey,

Im installing a CAI's CAI this weekend. And im also planning to buy a catch can with the breather as suggested by many people here.


Can some one please suggest me which brand should i go for (Catch can and breather).

And can someone please tell me use of breather?

You wont loose either way you go. I have had both cans and both are great construction and both companies have awesome customer service. Every time I had an question Tracy (Rx) was there to lend some help and he is an honest guy that will not bash on another companies products simply for a sale. And when i got my Elite can and i was sent the wrong bracket Steve (Elite) was there to send me what i needed to make it right. But in the end i sent back my RX can for two reasons.

1st my car for some reason didn't want to accept it and ran odd (it was running rich and had some misfires). That i know of i am the only car that has ever expirenced something like this but i guess its possible since it happened. Tracy was there every step of the way to figure it out but when he gave me an offer of a complete refund i accepted it.

2nd why i choose the Elite over the Rx is because of the Elites draining method. I like that i can unscrew the can and look to see what in there instead of the draining tube that sometimes will allow oil to collect in there and start dripping when you drive or are parked in the garage.

I know i didn't give a definite answer but what i said above are just my personal opinions and experiences but like i said either can is a great way to go.

I have had both and both are great products. On my 2013 I went with the Elite for ease of emptying.

And if you know anything about breather, can you tell me about it. Is it really a necessity to have that, but they look awesome

To know if a breather is necessary you remove the intake tube that goes to your Throttle body and pass a paper towel and see if any oil stains it. If it does then you have oil passing through the clean side like the dirty. There is an alternative to the breather but the breather is the cheapest and easiest way (the Alternative is the 1LE Clean side oil separator i believe its $140 from Maurren at Rodgers chevy and this is the most effective way but for most applications is a slight over kill in my opinion). If you plan to get a breather definitely buy the Rx one. It has an integrated check valve to monitor the air flow and it also has the one way valve to allow it to pass emissions testing.

Thats a great information you gave man. Thank you. I'd hold on the breather, ill do my CAI and Catch can first this weekend.

I went with the RX just because I wanted it painted in IOM to match the car.

Seems like you can't really go wrong either way.

I've had 3 Rx cans....1 without braided line fittings, 1 with the fittings and one with the fittings on my dads vette....All work(ed) great. Zero issues. Same with my two breathers

I finally talked myself into adding one and for personal reason I chose the Elite because I didn't want a hose hanging down from it with the chance it might get caught in something and the other thing was that knowing me I would forget and leave it open after draining. About the breather, I think it is not necessary from what I have read. I thought I had read it might be more necessary to have it if you were SC or running a turbo, I think, but don't quote me on that.

The good news is that you really can't make a wrong decision between RX and Elite. They are both great catch cans. The RX cans cost a little less but you are going to wait a few weeks to get it so that is something to consider.

what does a catch can do to help in performance actually. probably a stupid question but just curious

It doesn't do anything to help performance. It helps by keeping oil from being ingested into your engine and gunk forming and hindering performance in the future
