Couldn't Chevrolet disabled AFM in Sport mode?

I am not sure if this has been asked but why the hell couldn't GM program the L99 cars to not have AFM kick in when you shifted into sport mode. It seems one of the biggest complaints that L99 Camaro owners have is AFM. You would think that it would be something that they could address and fix without too much headache if Range Technologies can defeat it with a plug in device.

No, it only turns off in manual (tap shift) mode.

Yeah, I am sure that a majority of L99 don't like that.

Things I would have liked to have in sport/competition mode:

1. no AFM
2. no torque management
3. magically gain 50hp

AFM sucks big time. It makes your V8 Camaro vibrate a lot. If you tune your car to shut AFM off, GM will void your warranty. AFM was placed on L99 Camaros with the excuse that it was to meet government CAFE standards. What I don’t understand is how come the LS3 engines don’t have to meet the same standards? I wonder if we could sign a petition to GM to let us disable AFM if we so choose without voiding our warranty.

the LS3 does have to meet the same standards... it's the reason the Skip Shift function is on them. But that is a much easier fix than AFM...

"Used to be" easier to fix. With range, the L99 is now easier to fix. Lol

Range or tune is not something approved by GM so someone like me could not get it at your local Chevy dealer.

The next Gen Camaros are slated to get the new LT-1 engines that are being built into the new Vettes already...That engine will have AFM in both the manual and automatic trans cars...For fuel economy purposes the parameters which activate AFM on those will be "bumped-up" higher than what we are seeing now with the L99s....
