You Should be so lucky to have a woman buy you a CAM and break up what stupid cheating thing did you do? #1 the Robert way tutorial is old , he is not here anymore, and he had trouble doing his preload, best advice; have a pro do it and dyno tune it....you will have fun trying to fit stud on with the engine in the car also, regular lifters for ls3/7 are fine, pushrods have to usually be measured to length, and your cam phaser will have to change, and you would be better off with VVT and should speak to a couple vendors on here that sell a lot of VVT cams, night fury is just a grind with lifts in the 620 area med long duration varying LSA of course..... Your Buddy does not know it all either and you have about 5000 CAm install and other posts to read up on via the search ................and BTW 1.7 ratio x .047 thread pitch =.077 for one turn of the bolt/nut what ever after zero lash to be at .077 beyond the lash/preload even for a ls7 with higher rev limit, most like the milder sound of .040-.060 range preload area of stock as far as I could ever read up on here over the years as more preload means more noisey typewriter but tighter when hot for racing with no valve float...
SO lots to learn, .............. and buy like C5r timing chain, LS7/2 dogbone dampener, why port your heads when its $$$$$ and well 1400$ buys CNC ported brand new GM heads with hollow stem intakes you don't have and should have for a higher rev limit on a l99.... if you want a little more durable engine.....and plan on changing them springs out as spring fatigue happens and 25k area they should be scrap...just a few thoughts 8620 core ls30 oil br30 break in oil, new a/c belt its a cut off, buddies not knowing crap about what is what with cams also BTW so talk to a shop or two.....nightfury was just a name for a cam that was a custom grind as all basically are and they gave it a name ...same shop also went under BTW...... I used to drive the Raped Ape cam beat the night fury....

I was looking at the ported ls3 heads should I buy them directly from GM ? Or should I go with aftermarket ones? I plan on takeing it to a local shop to have everything installed and tuned I just want to buy all the parts and pay for labor only. |
