Does anyone have suggestions for securing a full size spare tire in a 2SS trunk so its held tightly in place?

What about making up a bracket that bolt's on top of the wheel well cover, the wheel well is held in place with the large spinner cup nut so I feel it would hold the wheel safely in place. Sorry for the poor explanation.

Unless i'm mistaken, the spare kit doesn't have a FULL sized tire. The tub won't fit a OEM height tire in it or people would be putting one in there.

Just wondering if you're going to have a front or rear tire in the trunk?

I used a front wheel and a 245/35/20 and it fits the wheel well perfect. I knocked the stud out of the hold down bracket and put a longer bolt thru it long enough to go thru the center of the wheel( m10 x 1.50 thread) then just put the board/cover back over it and used the oe plastic round hold down to hold all of it down.. looks perfect oe just about 3inches higher.

I just use a tie down strap similar to the pic. Looped around the tire and wheel pulled tight and connected to one of the rear lower steel anchor hooks. Holds good. I got the scissors jack and other tools stored in a case on the other side of the trunk.

I just have to ask, why a full size spare tire? Are you doing a major cross country road trip? OK, then I understand. But if is the daily driving around town, then think how many times have you have had a flat tire and been in jam while at home? Do you really want to carry the added weight around all the time?

GM actually sells a strap for securing the flat tire in the trunk once you change it out. There are metal tabs like for a child seat in the trunk that it secures to. I got mine from GM parts direct #25892541 $13.50
