Question Batch Build?

My salesman mentioned the Camaros are not arriving to dealers necessarily in the same order as they are being submitted because of the "batch-builds" the plant is doing. I take that to mean they are assembling a bunch of say SIM, then a bunch of 2LT, then IO, etc... Instead of every vehicle on line uniquely optioned/speced per order. That is how I am used to seeing today's automobile manufacturing lines; I would be surprised if it is otherwise at a high-tech flex line like at Oshawa. Does anyone have any definite knowledge on this?

They don't batch them. Mole and some others that work in the plant have mentioned that they'll see all different colors and trim levels mixed in, one right after the other as they come down the line.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Maybe they are arriving out of order due to constraints or QC hold...

Beats me! Just repeating what I'd seen from Mole and super60, who work there

I also spoke with one of the guys that works in the paint shop at Oshawa. A GM rep tried to tell our salesman that RJTs are built in batches because the paint takes about three days. He said that was BS, they have to go through a two step process for the metallic flakes, but they all come through the same paint booths at any random color or style.
