Anyone sucessfully had oil cooler fitting retapped?
Hey guys,
I was changing the oil Saturday night and saw water trails on the oil pan, and some antifreeze up by the pan bolts. Starting looking around and saw that the fitting going from the block to the oil cooler was leaking at the block. Did some searching and looks like there is a TSB out for it saying the fittings came cross threaded from the factory. The resolution is to retap the block. That sound like BS to me. I just dont see how a retapped fitting isnt going to leak. Ive retapped unimportant water fittings and they leaked. Has anyone had this done successfully? I am typically 100% against going to dealers, but Im not financially setup to replace the block yet. (418ci next year though!!) Any info will help! Thanks!

Go to the dealer and get it fixed under warranty.
Some are cross threaded, some not. In my case, a new gasket and thread sealant stopped the leak...been OK for over a year now. |
