Maybe weird but I was thinking

Dont matter what you use to wax, wash, or clean your car, or even how well you take care of it. Does it seem like your cars paint and interior never look as fresh as when you pick it up from the dealer.

By judging what you're saying, I'd have to disagree.

The perfect application of the wax/clay/cleaning etc. looks amazing on any color, that's nothing the dealer can match up to!

I would like to think that I will be improving how it is once I get it home from the dealer. My bar is a little higher then their standards.

Well stuff will fade with time in the sun. Plus there is more of a bias when you pick it up because you are excited and figure it has to be shiny because it is new.

Depends on perspective. A 2010 in grey primer with some dice and dents still looks good.

From someone that deals with the detail department in a dealership -- they do care about your cars, and care about the camaros especially (at least where I am), but they just don't have the time to clean them to their full potential. They are forced to spend about the same amount of time prepping an astro van as they do a camaro. You can always get the car cleaner than it is out of the dealership, but the wear and tear of your driving will make it look a little more run down (UV rays, other things that someone already pointed out).

They tefloned and buffed mine. It looked pretty damn good. Don't know if I'll EVER se it look that good again. Can't get away from the microscratches.

And what the hell is a clay bar?

clay bar just rubs across your paint and pull up contaminates. Mothers has one just about everybody has one. You rub it on the finish with detailer spray and it pulls crap off the paint, it wont help scratches. I did it on the new car and barely got anything. Trying it in about a year and you wouldnt believe what you get.

Yeah i know you can wax it better than the dealer etc etc etc. But It never looks as fresh as when you go get.

It never looks as fresh because that was the first time you looked at it or what not and drove it, felt it out etc....after you do that its sense of freshness and purity is gone...
But.....now you can modify it.....after your done having your fun with it and figure out the things you would want to improve upon it and make it better and more personalized to your individuality so it doesn't look just like everybody else's camaro out their.
If anything you could be the one to re-invent it and make it more fresh......and yours would be the only one on the block, it don't get much fresher than that.
possibilities are endless. the camaro in its original state is only the beginning.....now is where the fun begins.

Just be careful how you do the clay bar.

Best way to tell if you need to use one is after washing your car, put your hand in say a plastic sandwich bag and then run it over the surface of the car with your fingertips. You'll feel little specs or peaks that you wouldn't normally see or feel.

There's probably a dozen or so sites on the web about the best ways to do it. The key thing is NEVER EVER use a clay bar if it gets dropped on the ground and make sure it gets "kneaded" like bread dough often so the "contaminants" don't build up in any one spot and scratch the finish.

when i was stationed in San Diego, i was a member of Camaro Club of San Diego, one of the dealers in El Cajon wanted us to display one of our cars with a vette in thier showroom, so we detailed one of the members 70 or 71 camaro. We did that car so well that the dealer called his guys back, cause the brand new vette in the showroom "looked like crap" compared to the old camaro....
