New to my Camaro, Exhaust questions.
Hello,
Im recently the newly proud owner of a 2013 V6 Camaro LS1. Its an amazing car, and I'm looking to make it even better. I've been searching on various forums looking for insight into which exhaust would deliver the best deep, roaring sound for the car. I recently saw in a sticky that apparently the 3.6 V6 engine I have is the engine that apparently cant not have headers installed in the car. So my questions are, -Is that true? No headers can be installed. -Any pointers on owners who have had awesome success with their camaros, and which exhaust kits to buy. -Does this in anyway void the warranty of the car? I tried asking the dealer, but they ignore me and send me to their body shop for what I can assume would be that they just want the money going to them, haha. Thanks! |

Congratulations on your Camaro. When it comes to modifications, one or more of your vehicle's warranties can possibly be voided if you alter any originally built component. Some aftermarket engine performance products and modifications promise a way to increase the horsepower and torque levels of a vehicle's powertrain, but may have detrimental effects on the performance and life of the engine, exhaust, emission system, transmission, and drivetrain. Some of these effects are, but not limited to, enabling the engine to operate at horsepower and torque levels that could damage, create failure, or reduce the life of the engine, engine emission system, transmission and drivetrain. If this occurs, your warranty would not cover any repairs to fix these components. Hope that helps (enjoy your ride William R. Chevrolet Customer Care |

No headers on LFX.
Any exhaust component you replace will "in theory" void the warranty on the component being replaced. For example Chevrolet will not be under any obligation to fix your new Solo exhaust. Since you (and I) live in a forward thinking state (JK) you might consider Solo High flow cats and their cat back exhaust. This would be a completely bolt on system. You could go back to stock if you felt the need (and you kept the parts) or need to pass a visual inspection. Note: you will not need a smog cert for 6 years on your new ride. Other approaches require cutting, clamps and/or welding. Once you cut the exhaust it will be pretty obvious. You can buy GM performance parts from a GMPP certified dealer. GMPP has axle back exhausts in the catalog. (Some say they are made by Borla). I'm told if you buy the GMPP part and have it put on by the GMPP dealer you retain your warranty on that subsystem. Enjoy the new ride!

From what I've seen so far, is the MRT V2 is the way to go it seems.
Yeah I understand that, obviously Chevy would have no obligation to replace an after market part. As I read, the MRT V2 is also 100% bolt on, so incase I ever need to go back to stock I can. Anyone have any other suggestions? Also what upgrades does a CIA really grant? |

As Intensifi has said, nope, no headers for us LFXers. But... Many, many people here have put either cat back or axle back exhausts on, and some have done high flow cats, too. There are a number of threads here with youtube videos of a variety of examples you can watch/listen to, but it would be better to find some fellow Camaro owners and listen in person if you can. Also, as has already been stated, swapping exhaust for an aftermarket system won't void your warranty outright, but certainly any exhaust related issues would no longer be covered. Happy hunting!

Even if you could successfully use the clamps long-term, I'm not sure the stock setup would just clamp back into place easily. I don't recall seeing anyone mention doing this before, but it might work. A cold air intake (CAI) allows the car's intake to breathe better. There is some power increase (probably 10-15HP), and a notably louder intake sound above about 3,000 RPM. It is quite pleasing to my ear, and is probably the mod I like best so far. There are a variety of brands and styles to choose from. Quote:

Really? Thats strange, the description is misleading then.
According to http://www.mrt-direct.com/91a177.html it says its Easy, Direct Bolt on Installation. 911medic, do you have any good alternative suggestions to good sounding exhaust systems? |

I have always loved the way magnaflows sound. they don't get stupid loud, have a nice tone even in a v6 model and the quality is great. As stated your warranty will only be voided of the oem exhaust. The law is the aftermarket part has to be directly related to what failed. so if your power seats stop working well that is in no way the aftermarket exhaust fault. if you have any other questions please feel free to contact us!

Hey Rickyrocket, is the MRT V2 the exhaust you have? Has anyone else on this forum had the issues that were stated earlier with it not fitting correctly and having to be welded in place?

I looked up some of Solo Performances Cat back exhaust, and from the videos posted it sounds great too. If I do go with the MRT V2.0 I can always ask the dealer to weld it after it gets installed.
