Hawk PC Ceramic VS OEM's pads
Hello Everyone,
I just receive from USA, my Hawk PC ceramic pads kit, and will put then on tomorrow. Please just tell me in comparision with the OEM's in a 2SS 2013 Camaro, the braking power will be better? Some say that in cold temps the ceramic is lesser than stock, is that true? If I put 250km/h and need to brake my braking power with the PC will be better than OEMs? Also about lifetime of the pads vs oem's and rotors lifetime will change? Sorry for the lot of questions, i'm kind a scared to put non-GM pads. thanks, |

In a single stop, the Ceramics will still be comparable to stock but not quite the same "bite". You will still be able to engage ABS with them though. It's after repetitive stops that you will see decreased performance and fade with the ceramic pads.
Ceramic pads are meant for people who want every little brake dust and do not do aggressive driving. A show car or mellow driven daily driver is a good application for them. For anything more aggressive, I'd stick with OEM or Hawk HPS/HP Plus or DTCXX for track. The ceramics will last a lot longer than OEM so that is another benefit. Hope this helps! I have the Hawk ceramics and I will say that I did not notice any difference from stock for street use. The dust is noticeably less and they seemed to have plenty of stopping power. At 200 clicks stopping should be OK once, but not repeated stops. Just make sure you do the proper bedding in process! If you plan on doing any road course track days however, the ceramics are not a good choice. I'm switching back to stock pads next year because I'll be doing some HPDE road course days. I ran at Gingerman raceway last year and really found out how poor they are after several laps at speed! For the street they will be OK!
