Stock Boston acoustic system

just curious how many of you guys actually like your stock Boston acoustic systems? I really like it, I listen to rock, rap stuff like that and I think it sounds really good. But of course I've seen some people who don't like it. The truck I had before my camaro was a 2008 Sierra Denali with the Bose system and I always thought that was a great system as well. But saw a lot of people hating on the bose too. I don't get why people hate on these systems. My camaro Boston system makes the rear view mirror shake lol

Not enough bass. My '06 Chrysler 300 had a much better thump, but I didn't buy my Camaro for its stereo. . .

I added the Alpine Amp and FARK, I absolutely LOVE the BA system now. 1000% better! My son and I had it cranked pretty good last night with no issues. I listen to rock as well. Loved the clarity with just the amp change.

It's not bad, but most people want louder.

I added a sub which helped quite a bit. The only time I find myself wanting a "little more" is with the sunroof open and windows down on the highway.

And swapping the amp will also increase performance quite a bit (as noted here in the forum by numerous members).

So we can swap out the current amp, for a aftermarket one. As well as add another amp and a sub with the fark harness? I was going to just add another amp and sub and see how that sounds........

Most investing in a system choose to install a quality product over the paper cones and zip cord that manufactures put in their vehicles. Supplied by a company that either paid an advertising fee (or was paid) without quality controls on their products. Respectfully, manufactures are attempting to make a profit and skirt the bounds of 'intolerable' when creating radios while trying to make it nearly impossible for after market enthusiasts. A better sound system usually involves heavier amps, speakers and subs, aka weight...which arguably has no place in sports car. Simply replacing the stock speakers will dramatically improve the sound quality of your Camaro.

On the extreme opposite end of the spectrum, the Lexus/Mark Levinson, Audi/Bang and Olufsen, Jaguar/B&W systems have all proven to be sub-standard when compared side by side to their after market available pieces installed professionally. Don't misunderstand me, these are nice systems in their own right.

If owners are happy with their stock system then by all means, be happy. The two best analogies I can present would be; obtain two copies of a piece of music spanning 20hz to 20khz; a MP3 and FLAC. Listening to less than 50% of the original music score (MP3) sounds "good" for most people, but you could be listening to FLAC and experience the entire sound stage OR watch your favorite movie in a regular theater vs. THX/DTS Extreme theater.

In the end, sound is 100% subjective and relative to one's personal listening history and their choice of music. The experience of listening to a $100k McIntosh home theater system is inconceivable for most. There are very nice entry level systems for $500-$1,000 for the Camaro that are 5x better than the stock system.

Two amps get tricky from a "plug n play" perspective. Power distribution block, two power leads, double grounds and turn on leads then you have to worry about how to cross over the sub amp though most have built in crossovers with multiple gains. Absolutely easy to do, though perhaps not for the timid. The easiest means is a 6 channel amp, which usually ends up as a 4 + 1 bridged.

Your down the street....we do these installs....lol

Very well stayed. But it's a sports car, not a luxury car. The factory system is fine to me. If I was still 18, I'd probably add an amp and some sub's, but at my age and bad hearing level it works for me.
I prefer listening to the rumble of the exhaust to be honest.

I guess if you don't like clear sound at higher volumes than the BA system is fine. for a factory system it is above average. I replaced door speakers, the factory amp via fark, added a custom box with sub and mono amp. system sounds good at pretty much any volume now, plenty of thump when I want it. kept it at 1000 combined watts to make sure I didn't over work the alternator. perfect set up for ME
