Need help deciphering sport mode

I own a 2013 lt rs. What I greatly would like to know is how you are supposed to be able to put it in sport mode. The only way I can get it in s.m. now is when I jam it all the way back in M mode. Sometimes I see the s sometimes I dont, once it is in sport it only takes a little tap to knock it out. Also the shifter doesnt click (lock) in M mode. Not sure how its supposed to work but I know something is screwy with it.

I read the owners manual and I couldnt come up with anything solid............

The way it works , or suppose to work is , one pulls the shifter all the way to the back , by doing this it moves from D to S , and only if you click on the paddle shifters , it goes to M
It should show all of this on the dash /HUD

That's pretty much it, in a nut shell. Pull your shifter to "M" and you should see a "S" (Sport Mode) displayed on your Driver Information Center (DIC). You can shift to M at any time while moving forward or stopped. The "S" should remain there until you; 1) shift into D or, 2) press your "-" tap shifter, which will put you into full "Manual" mode to continue using your tap shifters.

I understand what you both are saying but mine doesnt go into s unless i jam it back, putting it in m alone doesnt guarantee it is in s, at least on mine. Should it be fixed?

For whatever reason, your shifter is out of adjustment. Take it back to the dealer and have then adjust it. Simple fix.

Yeah... what "40years" says: Out of adjustment - take it to your dealer to fix. Should be easy.

I'm sure M6 tranny have their rare issues also. This is not an issue that is common by any means. Stuff happens.

So there are 3 modes correct? Auto Drive (D), Sport Mode (S) and "Manual" (M)? What does Sport Mode do? What is different about sport compared to non sport? If it is in "S" mode, I do not need to shift gears manually correct? Just clarifying this all up!

Where I live there is too much traffic and stupid people for me to have a manual. Would I have preferred one? Yes, they are more fun but not when you have people that get 2 inches from your bumper at a light and traffic out the whazoo on just about every road you're on. Becomes more of an annoyance sadly

That excuse, huh? I live in one of the five boroughs and don't have a problem with a stick. Modern clutches are pretty soft. And yes people get close, but you just have to know what you're doing.

In sport mode, the car will still shift automatically, but it does so at a much higher RPM. If you press a tap shift button, you will enter "manual" mode and you'll have to do all the upshifts yourself.
