Is it possible to do a remote starter on a manual? It would somehow have to bypass the clutch?

It certainly is possible. Most systems you will have an "exit routine" in which you will have to set the car up so that it is not possible to have the car in gear when you start it.

I'm sure there are a lot of threads about this...best thing to do is "search" for this topic. It has been discussed many times before.

It is very possible as I have it on my car as well. Although many people think it is crazy to bypass all the safety exit procedures, that is possible to. You just have to make sure you exit in neutral with the e brake on every time because it will attempt to start in gear. There is also a toggle switch that can deactivate the whole system in case you bring it in any where for anything.
