Question on racing stripes...

I recently just got a 2010 2SS/RS and I can't seem to find any pictures online that match the stripes (the ones past the intake) that mine has... I know it was one of the first ordered as it was early 2009 and ordered by a billionaire collector in Michigan... only 878 miles on it. Beautiful machine... can't wait for spring... but why are the only pictures I find of these stripes on the original concept car and nowhere else? Anyone have any insight on this?

One more question while I'm here... sadly the 2010's didn't have in dash navigation... anyone know if I can order one and have it installed off the later years without hurting anything?

Those look painted on, and I believe they are a custom stripe pattern. They look very similar to the rally stripes SLP puts on their cars. Here's some pics.

Definitely not painted on... matte vinyl just like on all the production units... unless he had them put on custom after he bought it... but as far as I know it's all stock.

From the pic they looked painted. They are definitely not stock stripes from the factory. It's possible the dealer had them done after delivery for the original customer. It's easy enough to have custom vinyl stripes made in just about any configuration, and I would guess that's what you have.

If you want OEM parts, you are going to have to wait it out. Here is a thread about the work a vendor here has been doing to try to make this work on 2010-2012 Camaros using OEM parts:

Those look like the older version of the bumblebee stripes. I consider those before designing my own.

I was thinking they were factory because both concept vehicles (as well as Bumblebee) Chevy have shown (posted below)... have the EXACT same stripes on them as mine...

Just wishful thinking I guess... the previous owner was a billionaire as I said... He had 2 or the first ones ordered and on display with his Viper, DeLorean, Rolls Royce, etc (11 cars in the garage at his vacation home that I saw)... the guy has an ungodly amount of money to waste. lol

You can buy these stripes online. I know mopro.com has them. I put my stripes on 1.5 yrs ago and they were for sale then. These aren't rare or custom just a special order probably from the dealer.

Are yours painted on? All the GM ones are decals and they end on the hood and don't extend on to the header panel area where the mail slot is. Do you know when your car was built? The early build cars didn't have factory installed stripes anyway. They were all dealer installed. There's a sticker on your trunk floor with all your RPO(Regular Production Option) codes on it. You can take a picture of it and google the codes to find out if your car was ordered with stripes or not.
Camaros didn't get navigation until they got My Link in 2013. Ofer(2SSRS) at Gen5DIY has been working on the conversion for over a year now. The last time I checked, he was getting close, but I think the conversion is going to be expensive.

They are after market stripes plain and simple. Look much better than the factory ones IMO.

Great info, thanks! I'll check that out. Love that '69 Camaro btw! Awesome!

I'll keep an eye on that... I might just leave it stock as in Michigan it's not my every day driver anyways. My every day driver is a 2007 Monte Carlo SS... since the last gen Monte's had FWD, they handle the snow extremely well.
