5th Gen ZL1 vs. 2016 SS

Has anybody seen a 5th Gen ZL1 go up against a new SS? I haven't seen any videos of them yet?

We've seen some drag races. It is a drivers race for the most part.

This is kind of sad for 5th gen ZL1's. I've driven a couple of 6th gen SS's and while they are noticeably faster than a 5th gen SS in stock form, I didn't think they were THAT MUCH faster.

It's amazing what chevy has done with the new SS. Really an impressive car in many ways.

Put some sticky tires on the ZL1 and its running mid to low 11's all day. Pulley swap and tune gets you into the 10's...Gonna take way more then that to get a 6th gen SS there. Also, the 5Th gen ZL1 is just a plain monster, the 6th gen ZL1 is a masterpiece

Im going with the 6th gen. Against a ZL1. The ZL1 was a bit of a let down at the drag strip.

I don't know what ZL1's you're watching at the drag strip, but there's a member here with headers, cold air intake, partial E85 conversion and a cam running 10.2 in the quarter mile with his ZL1. No smaller pulley, stock rear end and axles, stock transmission except for a tune, but that's it. That's pretty impressive in my book.

LOL these comparisons are ment stock VS stock. I can mod a neon SRT-4 to run 10.2s. So stock the ZL1 aren't that impressive. Considering they were a $60K+ and came from the factory with 580HP.

Fair enough. Of course it will take substantially more to mid a neon into the 10's.

I like the ZL1 as well, but I've seen stock ZL1'S go up against FBO Coyote Mustangs and get their asses handed to them. Never mind going against the 13-14 GT500. It really depends on the mods and the driver. The new SS is definitely no joke at all.
