Really dissapointed with LS wheels

Today I went to my local chevy dealer to check out the black Ls they had for sale. To date, I had never been able to check out a standard Ls in person. Everything looked pretty good except the rims. I was really disappointed. They looked and felt really cheap. The silver ring around the black steel rims is just plastic and not apart of the rim. Its just plastic snapped on. I was looking to buy an Ls because I thought the black rims on the black car looked really cool. At this point I am glad i did not pre-order and waited to check out the different models in person.

Anybody else feel the same way?

well.... it IS an LS. I always thought those black 'heritage' rims were kinda ugly anyway.

yep me too. ive seen two so far. a black 2SS and a yellow LS, and the LS just didnt do it for me. the black SS took my breath away but not the LS. the wheels look like crap, and the interior is boring. The wheels, 4 pack gauges, and leather seats reaaaaalllly make a big difference.

I agree, but all that really doesn't fit into my budget. That's why I was so disappointed when I saw how crappy the Ls wheels looked, since I had planned on getting a standard Ls.

I have not seen an LS model. But I personally do not like black rims and have seen a pic of the stock LS rims. I agree based on the pic i saw I do not like them either. I think the larger rims like the 20 with a low profile tire look best on the car. Problem for me is they come with summer tread and the replacement cost for the tires is very high.
But yea I would agree with you on the rims looking bad.

I've seen the factory ones painted gloss black, they look much better than the damn near flat that comes with it. Or, go silver for a more factory look. You could of course swap them for aftermarket, which is what I figured most LS owners were going to do.

As for the interior, swap in katskin set later if you want leather. The door panels and center panel are also very easy to mod if you want also.

Hmm... looks like I'm the only one in this thread that actually really likes the heritage steel wheels. I think it gives the LS a more sleeper look, but still make it looks agressive at the same time.

The LS that's been at Epcot Test Track in Orlando for a while got the standard LS heritage wheels replaced with the optional black ones. I think that says something....

Yeah, it says here's an wheel/tire option that cost 20% of the purchase price of a new car.

As has been stated before, the LS was meant to be a blank canvas for customizing. GM put the black wheels on for two reasons - the wheels are cheap and it is highly likely that people are going to replace them ASAP.

Buy an LS, spend $500 on some new 18" wheels and suddenly your Camaro is one-of-a-kind.
