Should I allow dealer to wash new 1LE or not?

So my 1LE will be at the dealer in a few days and I'm very particular about my car my question Is should I let them wash it or do it myself? I've read that they can leave heavy swirl marks in the paint! And any advice for properly washing off the rail dust without swirls?

Don't let them. As for the rest, do some reading around here.

If you're concerned about swirls, DO NOT let the dealer touch the car

Don't let them touch it. I drove mine home with the protective film still on it. It was like christmas unwrapping everything, and no scratches or swirl marks from a wash bay kid that doesn't know any better.

As others have said do not let them wash the car. Now in order to get rid of the rail dust completely you will need to claybar the whole car, then polish, seal it, and apply a carnauba wax.

You will not believe how contaminated that paint is just from the train ride!!!

As said before, NO! When I bought my new '02 Z/28 which was also black, I had to spend an entire day of buffing the paint to get all the swirl marks out of the paint.
I purchased the '13 1LE from the same dealer this June and I made it perfectly clear that the car was not to be touched after it came off the truck. I installed the splitter myself after a complete detail of the car and I had installed the new Heritage Grill.
Good luck with your new car!

Don't always trust the word will get through the grapevine at the dealer either... Check these out: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185294 Simple, free and may save you a lot of money.

Once had a dealer spray degreaser (I believe) on the front of my hood. (Someone picked up the wrong bottle.) and it really ruined the paint. Took them a good hour of detailing to remove it. (On a previous vehicle)

I followed the recommendations here http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/...-phillips.html on how to clean up your new car. I also ordered products from the “Comprehensive Product Recommendation Guide” http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=275418 prepared by CamaroDreams07. (thank you CamaroDreams07 it has been extremely helpful!) All of the products have worked beautifully and it made it very easy for a total newb detailer to get great results. But whatever you do don’t let the dealer touch the paint before you pick it up, and that goes for any service visits. Forbid them from washing it and put signs on the car “do not wash.” I think Adam’s has some nice signs they posted here in the detailing section that you can print out and hang on your rear view mirror for just that reason.

I plan on installing my splitter as well... I will not be allowing the dealer to do anything! It's a small dealer so I'm not worried about them doing things when I tell them not to however I do not trust there 18 year old employees to work on my car haha
