GM Rep Help..Picked up the Camaro from the Dealer.. ROCK chips in my door!

After paying $6000 cash in repairs, I picked up the car yesterday I asked not to leave the lot. I even had the service writer inspect every panel in detail before signing the car in and write on the work order the car was not to leave the lot. I had an appraisal done the week before by a certified appraiser that took detailed pics and asked if I planned to show the car.. well I guess I wont now..The car has chips in the driver door, 5 miles more on it, I checked it in with 13,680.. they left their paper work saying 13,680 in/out.. it had 13,685 on the odometer..and the service manager offered $200 off my bill. The assistant service director said they did the mileage in the parking lot after a front end alignment, the Service Director said he would comment whether he believed it or not but it could have left the lot., who drives 5 miles in a parking lot? thats BS.. and now my door is chipped up and they refused to paint it.. I am waiting for the GM survey

You probably won't get one. Man, that sucks. Hope you can get some resolution.

Call the cops and your insurance agent. Refuse to accept the car too.

If I was the technician who did your alignment, I would have test drove it to make sure that everything was tight.

After my car was lowered they had a lot of trouble getting it into alignment and they had to take many test drives. Personally, I wasn't worried because the tech builds super charged corvettes so I'm sure my V6 Camaro is a toy to him. 5 miles in a parking lot, that's pretty crazy. That just seems sketchy.

As far as rock chips go, post some pictures. That is unacceptable and they need to make it right.

Waste of time- Damage probably will not exceed OP's comp deductible.

Threaten with the survey. Same thing happened to me. I talked to the service coordinator at my dealership and after a threat of a bad survey my car was repainted and they paid for the rental car on top of it.

I get being upset about rock chips to an extent, but mine has so many in the gill area, I guess I am numb to it, and I have no idea how severe yours are. The five miles is not even worth talking about. They test drove your car after the alignment. I would think you would be glad.

The chips were not on there when I took it in so yes.. its a problem.. If I had done it .. that would be different... As for the miles... I specifically asked not to leave the lot and they did it anyway.. I am trying to keep my car nice and after the poster that got his car totaled by a dealership employee, i did not want it hot rodded on the highway...

Its principle... You may not mind rock chips... I do

Did you do a walk around w/ the dealer before you dropped you car off? If you didn't you're pretty much out of gas. I agree with you about the no leaving the lot part w/out my say so, but if you had an alignment they do need to drive it. Having said that, I personally want to be present on any and all drives. That's probably why they offered some compensation.

If you can't prove it, they aren't responsible.

I carry $250 Deductible, even so cost of repainting and color matching can exceed $500 quickly

Pics of rock chip? This also can't be your only one on a three year old Camaro.

They just don't give a damn about your car, period. And I don't mean OP's car. I mean any of our cars. That damage is nothing to them. They aren't car guys, they are just in the car business. Never confuse them with car guys.

And based on my alignment debacle, Chevy claims they just need to hit the numbers. If you believe my (ex) service center, and I wouldn't discuss the color of orange juice with them.
