So I finally test drove a 1LE!

As the title states...I was finally able to find a 1LE within a reasonable driving distance to take for a test drive today and I absolutely fell in love with it! The one I drove was a brand new 2015 AGM 2SS with RS package and Recaro seats EXACTLY what I have been looking for! I test drove a standard 2SS 6 speed about 6 months ago and just wasn't too impressed with how it felt. I could tell IMMEDIATELY the difference in the two cars. The rumble from the factory dual mode exhaust was amazing. The seats were very comfortable and held me in place very well, although I didn't get to take it through any twisties :( . I was truely amazed how well planted the car felt just cruising through town. The 3.91 gears and short ratio trans definitely makes the car more enjoyable to drive too. Anyway, I officially have the fever for a 1LE. It actually exceeded my expectations! Unfortunately, today was not the day to buy a $46k car lol as my wife would not have been happy with me. I'll have my current truck paid off in a few months and I'm thinking about just ordering one to all the specs that I want, but the salesman said they are not going to make anymore 2015 Camaro's. Basically stopping production on all of them, which didn't seem to make sense to make cause the 2016 won't be hitting the lots till later this year around November? I've found a couple used 2014's but hardly any with all the boxes checked, so to speak. I wonder why anyone would purchase these cars WITHOUT Recaro's! Hopefully in a few months I'll have one to park in my garage! Gotta start making space

I hear ha. The 1LE is an exclusive Beast. I drove a 13 Hotwheels mm6 and was not impressed. Than I drove the 1LE and the Permagrin finally set in. Felt like a completely different car.

A lot of salespeople will tell you that you can't order them because they want to sell stock orders first. Although no cutoff dates have been announced, the usual customary cutoff dates to order Camaro's were in mid April, mid May. Since production for the MY 2015 isn't ending until November 20th, I would assume that they are taking new orders up until the end of August. When I ordered my car last year through Rogers Chevrolet in Michigan, it was towards the end of June and the car was produced on August 1. Becky D (who is widely known on this forum as the best person to do business with) had told me that sold orders are automatically accepted into the system up until the last day the ANNOUNCED official cutoff date is given. There has not been an official cut-off date given as of yet, so I think you still have time if you want to order a specific vehicle with the options you are looking for. For an honest up-front answer directly from the source, I would contact Becky Doyle @ Rogers Chevrolet.

Congrats on finding "The Truth"

Coupe should be able to be ordered through 6/25 I believe. No more convertibles as that dried up in April IIRC. Could be wrong though.

Chevy dealers around here are selling Camaros close to 5000 off. I saw a 15 white1LE on Rodgers website for 41 and change...sticker is 46.

My alternate was to use a credit union car buying service if I couldn't get GM employee. Plug in the car you want...usually 2500 to 3000 off...plus USAA discount, Camaro cash..etc. Got my 13 1LE with 3750 in discounts and GMS..close to $5500 off I believe. Not to mention killer .79% financing using direct deposit.

I'd look at the manufacture/build date on drivers door sticker. If greater than 5 months ago since built...you have a better chance in negotiating price. Considering GM wasn't building the 1LE over winter...probably stock from last year.

Bite the bullet on that car! Can't have a 1LE without Recaro seats! Those just "make" the interior of these vs a standard SS.

Do you know anyone who works for or is retired from GM? The GMS plan today works for friends as well as family! They can pull a GMS code for you and save you about $3k!

Thanks for all the info guys!

I do have a friend that works for a local Chevy dealership!

The salesman did tell me about how they were taking $5k off the price of all remaining Camaros, but I'm not sure if he was talking about the 1LE I test drove. When I told him I still had a little to pay off my truck they offered to help me get the deal done so I imagine they would take a good chunk off the price to help me out.

I may go to my local dealership tomorrow and see what I can find out about when the cut off date will be to order one.

If you found one that really suits you then go for it since it will not last long on the dealers lot. Later it will be that much harder to locate as the 2015 1LE's disappear. Regarding your spouse: Its been said that asking for forgiveness is easier than asking for permission (especially if the answer is no).

I got my 1LE the same way. GM make no distinction since the 1LE is considered an option package and not an actual car like the ZL1. You will qualify for the discount.
