FML!!! ZL1 got drenched in the garage.
Grrrrrrrrr!
A bit earlier, the dog was carrying on like there was something in the garage. It's a bit windy today, and he's on alert with ANY little noise anywhere, so I wasn't too concerned. A little, but not overly so. About the same time, the wife went to use the sink and complained about the water pressure being low. I went to the garage and before I got to the door it SOUNDED like the screw drive motor was running (so I thought). Figured it may have busted or something, so I opened the door. The ZL1 was taking a shower on the hood and water was splashing on the front of the car and the front part of the top. WTF!!!!!! Luckily, it was leaking from a seam that let loose but I was afraid the soggy sheetrock was going to come crashing down on the car. I froze for a second and didn't exactly comprehend what was happening, but then quickly ran into the house and cut the well pump off, then ran to cut the water supply off to the house. I had the battery tenders hooked up to both Camaros and got those unplugged and removed. Then I realized keys were in the house. I got the keys for both cars and moved them out. I've got a 1/2" cpvc line (UNINSULATED) that comes from the laundry room and cuts above the ZL1 runs the length of the ceiling and goes to the outside corner of the garage to the hose bib. I've got freeze protection on the hose bibs, but never did go up to the ceiling of the garage to even see how the line was run. I assumed it would have been insulated, but here in the south, it's not likely it would be needed, at least not in the last 10 years since the house was built. The wife and I came over one day during construction and put up all the wall insulation in the garage, but never saw the need to put any in the ceiling. It just never gets totally that cold hardly ever. But a low of 13 last night was too much I guess. I had some cpvc fittings around but no glue, so off I went to Home Depot. Cut the pipe near the laundry room, and capped it off there as a temp repair. Waiting for it to be completely set before I pressure check it. You can bet bananas when I get the line fixed there will be insulation on that line. I was thinking why did it let loose in the afternoon and not earlier? Well, most likely the ice slug that split the line in the first place took a while to melt and when it finally melted enough...whamo water slide time. Luckily, it's 52 degrees here at the moment. Windy but no rain. I've stabilized the situation and called my Allstate agent. We'll see how good of hands I'm in. At least 1/2 of the sheetrock in the ceiling will need replacing. But we'll see what happens. No damage to the Camaros though that I can see. Just got wet. Once I can restore water flow, looks like I got a couple of Camaros to wash down. You can see the pipe split which looks like a black streak running the length of the pipe. Arrgh! At least nobody died and I don't think any Camaros were hurt.

Yep, glad no one is hurt and the cars are okay. Sucks you have to deal with that.
