Shift boots, shift knobs and short shifters...
So currently looking to do 2 things... one is replace my stock shift boot with the one with red stitching. I found a few online and some state they are from a 2013 while other from older years. Are the boots from 2010 - 2014 the same? I know the knob changed and can't be swapped between but can the boot?
Also looking to get a short shifter. Now my question is here is that they state they are compatible with all years (10-14). If getting a short shifter does that allow you to use the newer style knob on an older car? Edit: Also I should specify I am referring to the short shifters that state they allow the use of the factory knob

There's a DIY on how to dye your stitching in your car using both a fabric pen and a sharpie in the DIY section. You might want to take a look at these and decided if you want to try that before spending the money to buy a new boot. It might be worth the little bit of money you spend on it to you.
As far as the shifters, there are plenty in the aftermarket. You would need to get more specific to a certain brand of shifter you were interested in to get an answer to your question. |

Well I found a boot /knob for a good price and I'm lazy lol...
Let's just say I'm looking at the slp shifter would that work with either the 2010 or 2013 knob?

I'm not sure about various aftermarket shifters and their fitment but the 2010-2012 oem knobs and boots are different than the 2013 up oem knobs and boots so unless there is some sort of adapter included I wouldn't think it would fit both.

See this is what I was thinking, but I'm curious how they are advertised to fit 10-13 with reusing the aftermarket knob (slp, tri-ax) when the knobs aren't interchangeable.... Makes me confused!

The oem knobs push on to the shaft, I'm pretty sure the aftermarket knobs such as the SLP attach with a set screw making them universal and I also think there is an adapter that can be used with the earlier shift boots, the later ones are more of a direct fit.

I'm using the knob and boot from a 2013 model on my 2010. I used the OEM adapter stick that came with my hurst shifter to reuse the knob I have that just pushes on. The boot still bolts in the same and works perfectly fine.
