2014 hood insert measurements
Could someone with a 2014 ss or 1LE do me a favor and measure from the back of your hood to where the insert starts. I just bought a '14 insert and going to attempt to make it work on my 2010 hood and want to get an idea where to make the cut. Thanks

I think the sheet metal also has a recessed area for the insert to mount to. If you just cut a hole in your hood and drill mounting screw holes then I think the insert will sit higher than your hood (i.e. not flush like the 14's). Maybe you already thought of this and it's no biggie for you but I thought I would mention it.
If you do make it work please post some pics as I know some of us would really like to see how it looks on a pre '14 hood! Thanks.

Yea ive already known that it wont fit flush. I work in a GM bodyshop so i got the part for pretty cheap and hope i can make it work.
