Does the rear defrost blow air?

Hello,

So I just dynamatted/fatmatted and then noticed vents on the rear deck against the windshield. Wanted to know if it actually blew air or if that vent is just to let the rear deck breathe. I just hope I didn't accidently cover any vents. would have to try and pull some of it up.

I thought the rear was just the heating metal in the windshield.

No, the rear defrost isn't blown. It's electrical current flowing through the patterns in the rear window. One is the radio and the other is the defrost. Wait for a day when you need to use it and you'll notice it even more.

I'm sure the vents are just there to get fresh air in from the outside or letting the car vent out if there is undesirable air.

the rear defog on my 70 ss nova is a fan mounted to the bottom of the panel but for several years as he said it's electric. and believe it or not the old school worked just as good

I had a '76 Trans-Am that had the little fan on the rear shelf. Was funny...but it sure did work...

Nice trivia.
Also there are those vents on the inside of trunk on the fender area, I assume their purpose is similar?

There are also vents on the quarter panel behind the bumper cover.

So did our '75 Camaro.

Haven't seen one like that in years though.

THis makes perfect sense. Thanks! I made sure I cut open a couple of the holes I had covered up on the deck that went directly into the trunk...DOn't want closing a trunk to damage speakers. Sure it helps the trunk air out too when sitting outside on a 90+ degree day in direct sunlight.
