Bring ZL1 To Cadillac Dealer???
I know some have said that this is what they intend to do. How many people have actually done so? Will Cadillac work on the ZL1? I know they are very similar to the CTS-V, but there are some differences. I wouldn't want my car being a guinea pig for a tech that is not familiar with a ZL1. That said, I like the idea of the better service that Cadillac will give.

A good tech can work on anything,but at dealers they tend to only be train in a couple area's.
where a tech at a smaller shop with 15-20 yrs has pretty much worked on everything from the brakes to the cam bearings...That being said tech's also go back and forth from dealer to private shop's so a good master tech can read any wiring diagram if he understands electronic's and work on anything that comes in there.. Most over head valve engines all work the same pretty much.There may be some different ways of controlling the timing,or different steps in doing something but a well train tech should be able to handle it..... Only when it comes to programming,newer Transmission's,and traction systems etc, does it require someone with lot of experience( a specialist )... A heavy line tech can pull apart just about any motor or brand,just as a A/C tech can charge any brand of system. A/C system's all work the same way,other than having a orifice tube with a accumulator or a expansion block with a dryer on the high side....A good master tech should be able to handle every system if he is worth his weight is salt... I say go for it,I have seen other brands in dealers all the time,yet I doubt they will do warranty work....I have always said go where you feel comfortable. Good luck let us know if they do warranty work ,you never know !

I had this discussion with a dealer a while ago and they told me warranty repairs must go to the brand specific dealer otherwise any GM brand dealer can do service on another gm brand.

On another occasion I complained about tranny heat, apparently the guy went and dogged it and found a huge pile of very large green grasshoppers to do it in, because he gave it back to me covered in these huge bugs. I don't even know what that was about.

I guess I got lucky, my Chevy dealer is also a Cadillac dealer with one service department!

Same situation here. Much better pool of technicians and service writers that actually know what a ZL1 is. I knew I was in capable hands when I saw a Z06 parked waiting for the owner to pick it up.

My GMC dealer works on our Caddy for any warranty work. I asked about the brand specific thing and they said that GM prefers it, but with Caddy owners, they tend to let them take their car pretty much to any dealer they want.

I bought my ZL1 from a dealer located more 100 miles from where I live.
Obviously I wasn't going back there for service so I started interviewing local dealerships to see who might be able to best service my car. I went a couple Chevy dealers, a Cadiallic dealer. When it was all said and done, I ended up taking it to a GMC/Buick dealer I've used for more than 10 yrs to service my other cars. So far so good. They've not had to do any major engine tear down, but they did replace the brake pads with low dust Hawk pads. They also replaced the master brake reservoir because it was weeping and the side panel of the floor console because the clip wouldn't stay put towards the back end. Whenever I drive the car into the service center, they make me feel like a rock star. I get so many oohs and aahs from the service team over my car. It looks terribly out of place among the GMCs and Buicks waiting there for service. You shouldn't have any issues taking your ZL1 to a certified GM service center you're comfortable with.
