zl1 replica wheel question...

I searched and didnt find, so i hope this isnt a repeat.

Im thinking about zl1 replicas. Like the Phaseteks or the FR's. Brand undecided still.

These are "cheap" so they are cast right? (cheap as opposed to OEM)

Can I EVER take to track? Road or 1/4 mile. Im not a big track guy, but may get there once a year. Im a VERY spririted street drive. Back roads are fun.

Any problem with breakage? THose spokes are skinny.

Thanks for the help guys!!!!

Lots and lots of threads going over these wheels. I have the Factory Reps now for some time and I know many users have gotten them recently. They seem to be made very well and look/feel like a quality piece. I would recommend them, as Im sure many here would as well. I would say no problem with tracking.

I have the LG ZR28 wheels and they are great. Definitely worth checking out. I drive spirited as well and usually take the back roads home 3 to 4 times a week and they have held up fine.

He is saying they are both from the same company. Phastek sells ZL1 replicas made by Factory Reproductions.

just so you know.....both the OEM and the reproduction are cast. the difference is the actual materials they use, and you could most likely never get a definitive answer as to what they are.

Incorrect...the OEM are FORGED, not cast.

From the Chevy.com ZL1 section:
Wheels: Black 10-spoke forged aluminum wheels, 20" x 10" front and 20" x 11" rear

I just bought a set and can say that they are surprisingly light weight.
The FRs weigh 29.5 & 31 pounds, respectively.
The OEM have to be 10 pounds less each.

ZR28 wheels

Does anyone know if the ZR28 wheels will fit on the V6 model? Shops have been telling me you can't fit a 10" wide wheel on the front...?
