GM Card Redeem Points

Hey all,

As I used to be a HUGE GM fan, I have had a GM mastercard since 1999. After the debacle that was my 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Daytona 500 Pace Car, I never thought I would buy another GM car. Of course I could never swap the points for another deal with another card. So I kept it. Maybe it will come in handy! I have $4k coming to me on the Camaro purchase 'so I got that going for me. Which is nice.'

Anyways, who has used the GM Card points during a purchase? Any tips or just want to talk about your experience using them? Thanks in advance.

Ryan and Midlife, do you wait until you get your best deal THEN say you have the points or do you start off telling them you have them?

I would wait until the end if the deal. The only stipulation is you cannot use gm supplier pricing with the points.

Thanks Ryan. Never thought I would use these things. Now I am glad.

However you can use them on universal sales. For example you can use it on the Open House prices right now. The Open House Event is basically supplier pricing for everyone. Luckily my dad is capped with $3500 on his card and is letting me borrow them for my Camaro purchase next week. Will have to pay him back but he said since he would be losing like $500 a year if he didn't spend it that I could use them and just pay him back and every year he will take $500 off of what I owe him.

Yeah I was originally looking at the end of June because my current car would need new tires. Since they are not looking at buying another car for 2-3 years I could do it. Luckily I budget myself to live off 2 paychecks a month so when the two months where I get three paychecks come in a decent chunk will go back to them. Luckily his budgeting wisdom passed onto me.

Helped drop my monthly payments below $300 over 5 years .

I've redeemed them on 4 cars. Would have been 5 had they topped me off this past Jan.

Yup. Used just like cash towards the down-payment. I had no issues using my GM Card points. Very happy that I had them.

I let the dealers know up front what I have (gm card, private offers etc..). I want them all to compete against each other with the information up front. Get full out the door pricing before you even walk in.
