Badges
Is the badge on the back glued on, or is there holes in the truck? I don't care for all that gold. Would like to take it off

Thanks I did a search and found it. I might take the one off on the back of the car. Gold on white just doesn't look right IMO.

So it's possible there may be a dimple or something off about the paint just a little underneath. So you can certainly take it off and see and then decide if it looks good or you want to replace it with a body color or black or whatever your flavor is(go old school and get blue ones, I almost did that).
There may be a better way to do it in the cosmetic forum, but here's what I learned: 1. Outline the bowtie with masking tape. This serves two purposes, one, it protects your paint while you work, two, if you are putting a different bowtie right back on you'll know exactly where to line it up. 2. Use a heat gun or hair dryer to get the double sided tape on the back of the bowtie to loosen a little. Additionally I had my rear end pointed towards the sun, maybe it helped, I don't know. 3. Use fishing line or dental floss to slide back behind the bowtie working it back and forth to "cut" the warmed up double sided tape. Wear thick gloves otherwise you may cut into your fingers some. 3.5 You may use a plastic wedge to help prop up the bowtie once you've pried some of it loose to make it easier to work the fishing line/dental floss. Be careful about scratching your paint or denting your car. You may choose to wrap the tool in a microfiber towel for extra protection. 4. Once the bowtie is off, use either Goo Gone or Goof Off(one or both says safe on paint) to remove the leftover adhesive from the tape under the bowtie. Let the chemical work so you aren't scratching your paint by moving a towel around over the glue. A tip, you may heat an area and then work the line/floss under and pull up some and then reheat the next part you're working on. It won't take that long.

The rear bowtie is a PAIN. I used a heat gun. Take your time and try to get as much adhesive off as you can at once, otherwise, getting the remainder off is not easy (ask me how I know). I bought some 3M adhesive remover and it makes it easy. Just have to soak whats left and rub it off. Polish, then wax. Here's what the rear looks like when done and naked.
![]() Now if I can only figure out what to do with the front bowtie...

Thanks for the tips and pictures. Good idea with the tape to mark it. I think I will pull it off, much cleaner look imo.

The rear bow-tie isn't hard to remove. Simply heat it up with a heat-gun or blow-dryer then use some light fishing wire like dental-floss and peel the bow-tie and adhesive tape from the paint. After that, gently buff away the remaining adhesive with any automotive grade decal remover.
