"This car will change your life"
Were the last words spoken to me by my salesman as he handed me the keys to my new 2SS/RS convertible. This is my first vert (not to mention first V8, first Chevy, first GM).
So, now that I've had all of two weeks and 800 miles of experience in this car, I want anyone who is on the fence to know that this salesman hit the nail on it's head. I factory ordered my car so that I could get exactly what I wanted. One of the first decisions you have to make is coupe vs vert. Going vert eliminates a couple of very popular options, specifcally, 1LE and Recaro seats. For me, and obviously YMMV, I knew that I would get more daily joy out of topless driving than I would a track-oriented suspension. Plus, I was coming out of six years in a very stiff car, the 3100 pound Mazdaspeed3 and I was ready for a little more relaxed ride. I've been very impressed by the stock suspension on the vert. According to magazine reviews, it has the same spring/shock setup as the standard coupe which speaks to the engineers' confidence in the rigidity of this chassis. The vert does have additional bracing underneath and comes with the front shock tower brace. The ride is still very "sporty". It is firm and controlled while being pretty compliant. Frankly, it is difficult to find the limits of this car on the street. I've managed to engage traction control in damp conditions and in a straight line in the dry but with these OE Pirelli summers, the limits of dry cornering grip are dangerously high. I have yet to find them. As far as the seats are concerned, I'm a big guy and would have trouble fitting into the Recaros. I was impressed by the comfort of the standard seat back at the autoshow in December and my memory hasn't failed me. I am VERY comfortable driving this car. I'm tall enough that I can comfortably rest my left elbow on top of the door with my hand on the A pillar while cruising. I find this to be my favorite position. One other note about the top--it is very low profile. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I can easily put the top up and down in my standard sized garage, for those days you park with it down and wake up to rain the next day. I look forward to every moment behind the wheel of this car. I look at the weather forecast completely differently than I used to. Now it's, "Is today a convertible day?". I can't imagine not having this option.

You hit the nail on the head. I am on my 3rd year with mine and still feel the same way. I am also surprised at how many stares and compliments I still get on it after 3 years. Chevy really hit a home run with the design.

I've had mine for two weeks now and I am loving it, I have only driven it once with the top up. This being my first vert, I have been always warned about getting one. Some folks sayin I will never utilize the top down mode in tbe town I live in, it more dangerous in an accident (when its ur time....its ur time), its a girly car, ur gonna have nothing but problems with the top, yada yada yada.....
Finally I got to a poinf where I said to heck with it! Let me make that decision and just experience it myself........I really like this car! Its perfect in every way

Interesting you should mention motorcycles...
This vert started as an itch to get back on a two wheeler. I subscribed to a couple of bike magazines as was working up a sweat over the new KTM Super Duke 1290. When my family found out what I was thinking they collectively put their foot down. This was around Thanksgiving so when we went to the autoshow after Christmas, I was definitely thinking 'open air'. I tried on all the convertibles. I didn't fit well in the C7, the 911 was $140,000 blah, blah, blah. Then I saw the Camaro. Daddy likes. It fits me well-I'm 6'-5" so, your observation about the ties to motorcycling are spot on in my case.

I love my Convertible, and yes this car did change my life.. my first convertible as well.
prior to car I had an Avalanche and prior to that a Chrysler 300c since both were 4 door family cars I was expected to be the driver to all family events and even the driver for some work related stuff when multiple people needed a ride, no more.. as unless you are a 5 year old you aren't fitting in the back seat with my 300 lb, 6'2" frame in the front. prior to the Camaro I was also expected and requested for Truck duty, and to help any family member that needed a truck for moving, warehouse shopping, or home depot visits, no more as I can't even get a laptop bag in the trunk. -- yup it changed my life.. lol 17,165 top down miles in 2 years, the only time the top is up is when it is parked or raining (and in the rain I drive my beater).
