LS3 - LT Header w/ cats. Raspy!

Just finished installing the Stainless Power, LT headers with cats on my NPP 2013 SS. Idle sounds amazing and cruising even better, but when I want to get on it, around 4k it becomes very, very raspy. Is this normal and if so, is this a desired sound. I have always made it a point on my other rides to get rid of rasp for a clean exhaust. Thanks in advance.

The rasp or lack of is personal preferrence. Its what you like....not the rest of us. For most of us with LT's and stock exhaust, the catted versiion is not raspy. Most of this is simply the nature of the LSx engines. I have had and heard so many different cat back systems.. and none really give you that old school deep sound. Get it tuned, that will help some. But let someone else drive it or listen when it gets on the dyno....sounds much better than you think.

+1 I never though my system sounded that great but after hearing it on the dyno and having someone do a flyby, it sounds pretty good.

That's Long tubes, no cats, no mufflers.
Raspy until wide open, then it's a beast

Yup, indeed. Almost always sounds better when having someone else to the driving and you the owner outside .

OP should try this before moving on to a needless $$$ step.

I love my exhaust and how loud it is, but sometimes it does get annoying.

Would this problem have been solved, if say, you had the NPP exhaust with a mild to wild switch installed?

Honestly, I think its already gettin better, ive put a hundred plus miles on it already and its growing on me. I wont be dumping any money into the exhaust as I love the NPP. I dont want to have to weld anything into this one. I have a tune set for this weekend and ill be behind the dyno to listen, but I think it will have gotten better by then and the tune might help with the rest. Ill post some videos of dyno and acceleration for you all to have a listen.
