2SS Manual on Constraint until October at the Earliest?

I am posting this in the hopes that someone has a straight answer.

I am fed up with sitting at 1100 watching others get their cars. So after PMing several of the more senior members here, thank you Camaro Scotty, I decided it would be worth the drive to find a camaro.

I called six dealers today in Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania trying to find a car. I was told by all that due to the drive shaft issue on the manual 2SS, dealers would not be able to place a new order until at least October at the earliest. That would mean December delivery date.

One dealer has allocation and said they could get an automatic into production now. 2 other members have ordered as recently as July 20th from this dealer and are already at 3400! The guy was very helpful and could get my vehicle except for the manual. I think he was being straight with me.

I don't want to get the rumor mill going, so would a mod please step in. Tran I hope you're around. I think Fbodfather is out of town. I would just like to know if this is true. Thanks.

I would rather they fix it than rush to fill orders that will have issues.

I placed my order on July 6th and I just got email from my dealer saying that I went to 2000. I ordered a VR 2SS/RS M6. I'm not sure if I will slow down from here if this manual constraint is still going on, but from what I have seen on this website, once you hit 2000 things move pretty quickly until you get a TPW.

There is no manual constraint, there was one for two weeks while they sorted through a problem. I have manual on order and it will be built this week as will many others for that matter. they had a small problem which they diagnosed, they placed a temp constraint so the system wouldn't be backed up with manual orders in case it was wide spread, it was not and the system has since gone back to normal as far as i know. Everything has been back to normal for weeks now.

It says your fed up with sitting at 1100 how long have you been there. Its probably just your dealers allocation or lack of. I sat at 1100 from feb till end of june. Sound like your dealer doesn't have any allocation for you and they are making excuses.

Thanks JPsuperman. This is pretty frustrating. Can any of the dealers or insiders on here tell me if GM is accepting new orders for a 2SS with manual transmission? If so why don't several different dealerships not want the order or know it's off constraint?

There was a board member that had 7 open allocations last wek or so and those orders could go in right away and they could have whatever options desired. there is no V8 manual constraint as of right now. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33476

There are alot of stupid dealers out there, i easily say they outweigh the smart ones. Sounds like you have managed to find all the stupid ones.

You're right. I wasn't happy with the response from local dealer, so I decided to look farther away from home. Specifically with dealers recommended by members of this forum. I spent this afternoon calling around, money in hand , ready to order. No one would take the order, all told me I would have to wait until constraint was lifted.

That's not true! The restraint WAS lifted. And yes you CAN order a manual. Just like someone already said: Your dealer probably has no allocation for you, and is just bullshitting you until they get it. There is NO restraint, on anything.

I'm fast because these posts get irritating, not saying your irritating but there is just so much ignorance out there it astounds me. How bad can the communications lines be so bad that dealers either aren't informed or choose not to be informed.

Link from a dealer/salesman showing when constraint was lifted and no post has been made since by any reputable person naming a new constraint.
