Official HeritageLS IPF S/C Build
Some know, some don't. I purchased a lightly used IPF kit in August of last year. Since them I have been researching and making sure I have every little thing ready to drop this badboy in. I am almost there but only have a few issues that I want to run by everyone here. There will be updates with pictures and progress on this once the build begins. I CANT WAIT!
So here is the one thing I have an issue with at the moment: 1. Does anyone know of a MAF sensor extension that is plug and play? I need to extend mine to accommodate the new intake tube but I don't want to splice the existing wires. I saw a few options online but I want to use something that I know will work Thanks. Looking forward to adding more to this as time goes on Last edited by HeritageLS; 04-02-2014 at 01:43 AM. |

.
^^ yea mine did too . Way easier then extending your wires . I would contact Ipf to see what they could do . Especially if you plan on installing yourself

I got the kit used and missing a few essentials. I was going off of the supplied instructions and it mentions splicing so I assumed that's how they still sent it. Thanks for the info. I'll get one from them |

I've got an extra set of bearings (the upgraded ones) and they're easy to install if you've got at least at 4" vice.
Drop me a PM if you're interested and I'll go into detail on how I did it. Of course there's more than one way to skin a cat... but you'll need duct tape-LOL! Just kidding. |

Might want to solder those wires. That way they don't come loose

IPF in Tempe (call Andy) definitely have a plug and play. No cutting/soldering required.

Spoke to him today. They only have a plug and play option for the LLT unfortunately. May be changed in the future Anyone know of any other vendor that has one? Looks like I'll probably end up just splicing and soldering. Anyone know offhand the colors and gauge of the wires? I'm going to look tomorrow sometime anyway since searching wasn't coming up with much |

I spliced and soldered too, just use a good marine grade shrink wrap to seal the connections.. and do them one at a time, there are 2 wires the same color, do not mix them up...also cut them staggered, so you can wrap neatly when done. otherwise all your connections will be at the same location causing a huge buldge

Most of us spliced and soldered. My install went bad because of a faulty crimp on the MAF. Took a full month of Arno and my time to figure out that the installer had a faulty crimp and when warm I would get erratic idle.
Take your time and solder and shrink wrap.

My bad
- didn't look to see you had a LFX, but didn't know that would make a difference to the MAF wires anyway!Sorry to get your hopes up. If it helps to know, the plug in extensions were brand new when we did my car, and we had to try 4 different ones til we found a good'un... Some solid DIY soldering is probably the most reliable method anyway!

Thanks sycraft and nutbutt for the heads up and good advice. It'll definitely help me out
Did you use any specific type of wire for the extension? I did a lot of searching. Doesn't seem to need anything special Ventmaster: thanks for the suggestion to ask and for letting me know it was a hassle to find one that worked Last edited by HeritageLS; 04-03-2014 at 08:15 AM. |
