Talking NPP w/Long Tubes and x-pipe...

Looking at getting a set of long tubes w/ off road x pipe(no emissions in SE Georgia) for my '13 1LE. I do have the NPP exhaust on the car currently...do most long tubes fit the same piping diameter as the NPP system? Want to keep my NPP with the long tubes since I payed an extra grand for it, lol. Thanks for the help.

bigcountrypoppen - If you haven't already read the thread from Chase at Apex, it is very informative regarding the selection of headers, mating up to NPP, etc.

I just installed the ARH "short" system to the factory piping, and kept the NPP. I'm running cats still, and it sounds amazing. M2W switch is next.

I have the Pfadt (no longer available) they bolted right up. I personally thought the factory H-Pipe sounded great but way too loud for me. I'm 40 it would have been great when I was 20 though.

IMHO I would advise you just get LT's and evaluate what you want to do after you hear it running. You can pick up a Magnaflow universal X-pipe either non resonated or resonated (I got resonated to tone it down a bit) for $75-$125 and have it welded in cheap enough. Also you can leave it alone and run the factory H-Pipe.

The X-Pipe and H-Pipe do similar things supposedly the X builds more TQ. The X-Pipe also evens the tone out a little bit.

Really it's personal preference.

My car with the Pfadts and Hi Flow Cats and a MagnaFlow resonated X-Pipe into the NPP sounds like a deep low rumble at idle but under throttle it sounds like the Devil is coming to get you... lol

Ditch the stock and get long tubes high flow cats and 3 inch exhaust. All from kooks. Sounds amazing. Tune it and you will have a beast.

One of the best pieces of advice I picked up on this forum regarding LTs was to choose your tuner first because they are the most critical variable in the process. Most tuners will have a preference for certain pipes based on experience for fit and performance.

In my case, that preference is for ARH. They have a variety of proven systems to achieve the result you want. They are high quality and 100% made in America, if that is important to you. Like anything else, they will cost more than the Chinese stuff. Because I have a convertible and want only a modest increase in sound plus do not want to disturb factory bracing or NPP, we decided to go with CA78SHWC which is the product code for 1-7/8", short connection with HF cats. This system leaves the factory 2-1/2" H mid-pipe and NPP in place. ARH also has a "to-the-axle" system which replaces the factory H pipe with a 3" X pipe which then feeds into the factory exhaust. This system is claimed to provide slightly more power and certainly more sound but leaves NPP in place. It sounds like this may be what you are looking for.

Thanks for all the helpful advice, looks like I may be going with hi-flow cats after all. Will definitely be doing some extensive "YouTube research" in figuring out which sound I like the best...thanks for y'all's time and help. Hooyah motivator out!
