Question about my heads and boost

Hey guys..

I am about to buy an ECS 1500 kit in the next couple months with the meth. My question is, with my heads on the car currently (stock ls3's with .030 deck) should I be safe to run boost with the methonal or is this just way to risky? I have heard positive and negative from local people. I believe im around the 11:1 compresison ratio mark. If need be, I will buy another set of stock heads and sell these unless it is going to be ok to run.

Thanks for the help.

Really depends on how much boost you plan on running and most importantly using a GOOD tuner..

You should be fine, just won't be able to throw timing at it like an unmilled setup(not that you can a lot of timing with them either).

My stock ecs kit made 11lbs. Your cam may lower that some

Bumping this thread back up as I am really close to buying. I am hoping to just run a 51/49 mixture for meth and on whatever the stock boost is for ECS kits.

Yea I've figured it wasn't a huge difference but I wasn't sure if stock compression was at the threshold.

It will be fine. Stock ls7s are 11:1 and LT1s are 11.5:1 and take boost just fine.

Everything will be fine. I ran the base ECS kit with meth, cam, at 15 lbs. of boost. Everything ran perfectly fine. I was making north or 800rwhp.

Did you have to run 100% meth?

Just curious about your cam. What is the LSA and is it advanced any? A lower DCR would sure help. If the cam is ground on a fairly narrow LSA and/or has a bunch of advance ground in, you're going to be limited on how much timing you can run.

Blake I am running the ecs 1500 kit with 100% meth. With the restricter plate was able to get 11.5 psi(700 rwhp) boost and 15 psi(793rwhp) without.
