"Touch up" polish
So 2 weekends ago, I spent about 28 hours doing paint correction: Dawn wash, clay, 2-step polish with Blackfire products and 5.5" foam pads with PC 7424XP, Dawn wash, seal with BF All-finish paint protection, wax with BF Midnight Sun carnauba paste.
Now that I've had some time to review my work, I've noticed that some of the finer nooks and crannies that I tried to get at with the 5.5" pads, just didn't turn out. I figured this would be the case, but I tried anyway. Anyway, now I ordered some 4" pads and I plan to go at some of those spots this weekend. For example, the top of the front bumper (the horizontal plane that the grill sits on). My question is: do I need to "re-prep" these areas by removing the wax and sealant before I polish? Or can I simply do my normal 2-bucket wash, polish over the areas that need work and then reseal and wax those areas. I ask because I'd rather not try to "spot-strip" those areas, potentially risking removing wax/sealant from other parts of the car in the process. |

You need to strip and clay the areas again. If you use IPA wipe you won't spread beyond where you want.

This is probably a stupid question, but should/can I put some IPA on one of my smaller waffle weave towels and then precisely wipe a specific area? Or do I have to spray it onto the paint then wipe?

You absolutely can spray it on a tower first.

I feel your pain. I got a 3 inch backing plate with 3.5 pads to get those tight areas. Works great.
