The proper installation of vinyl stripes?
I've seen it done a few different ways on the trunk/spoiler and want to know the correct way it should be done. Any pictures would be helpful.
I've done a search and can't find any information, if there is a thread I missed please direct me to it! Thanks. |

I believe the correct answer to this is "however you like them installed."
The factory seems to install them so that the edge of the pinstripe hits the fold/crest of the spoiler, though.

Thanks, I guess what I really meant was how the factory was installing them.

That's kind of what I assumed. Did my explanation of that make sense to you?

Yeah I completely understood. I just didn't want mine to stick out like a sore thumb for being installed incorrectly for a lack of a better term.

Make sure, if you do them yourself, to get them very wet. Both the stripes and the vehicle. Use Windex instead of Dawn. It takes a little longer to dry, but easier to work with. Measure and mark exactly where you want your stripes before you peal the backing off. I spaced mine 1" farther out (wide stripes for wide body) but that requires special measuring and trimming. Anyway, don't get in a hurry and make sure they are plenty wet, then squeegee all the bubbles out. If your not sure, pay the extra to have a pro install them. There are plenty of horror threads about install issues, even from the dealer. Good Luck

That looks really good!
I think I'm going to save the aggravation and have a pro do it when I get my windows tinted. I bet I could do it, but would feel better having someone with experience do it. |
