Adding 2 pounds to the Z/28

Today is the day the salt gets the Mylink installed and we started to see what amount of weight we where going to add.

stock head unit comes in at 3lb 14oz
Mylink with NAV comes in at 4 lb 2 oz

So there we are adding 4 oz, if i had a 2014 unit it will be less weight, (it does not have the CD built in)

stock face plate comes in at 2 lb 3 oz
NAV face plate comes in at 3 lb 2 OZ

all wires and USB (needed for the upgrade) comes in at 8 oz

Pics to come.

I am keeping my Z28 as it came from factory. I just hit onstar for NAV and it puts it on the dic.

And we can appreciate that, but we will be working on making a front camera work with the mylink screen soon (and the rear works now), so this is the start of that work.

I'm going to sprinkle bread crumbs for navigation. 2 oz should do it!

Seriously, I'm getting very used to having nav in cars and trucks. Not sure I won't put it in the Z/28, assuming it ever arrives.

I would be interested in doing the same with my car

Great project - I am looking forward to hearing all about it - who is doing the work for you?

There are no cameras on the Z28. For other Camaros it would be great. Is there a way to get the distance lines on the ZL1 NAV screen?

We know this, but this car will by end of day, the rear one, the front will go on as soon as we take the front bumper off the car to do more work.

Having used the Installed OnStar, Turn-by-Turn Nav (POS). Pushing OnStar for Nav and putting on the DIC SUCKS compared to the MyLink with Nav upgrade that Ofer has provided for us.

I have mylink in my ZL1 with NAV. I use the on star more than I thought I would, I waited two months for the NAV in my ZL1 because it was on constraint.

Will this upgrade the stereo to allow streaming bluetooth music as well? What is the cost of the upgrade?
