Bath Time

So they say not to wax the CF insert, but being all the wash products seem to contain wax, what do you recommend? I was just going to use Dawn DW soap.
Thanks!

The exposed, clear-coated CF insert can be waxed. The painted black or gray inserts cannot be waxed.

Just a thought, for cleaning, Johnson's Baby Shampoo works very well, on the entire car, let alone a painted insert.
Dawn will remove most if not all of the surface wax on the car. If that's your want, you're set.

I really makes no sense that you can't wax the painted insert, after all the rest of the car is painted.

Not quite correct...

The exposed or painted gray are clear coated just like the rest of the car and can be waxed.

The only one you don't wax is on the 2012 models with flat black (no clear) inserts. There were only about 500 or so made.

The reason for going with the gray insert was because the flat black is very hard to keep perfect. Smart move by GM as now they only have one color stripe and the gray stripe looks really good, is cleared and can be kept up easily.
