Super charger oil?

What is everyone using for oil in a Paxton 1500?? Is my only option the oil Paxton sell? Looks like Type F when I was draining it. Thanks.

I wouldn't use something else that's not recommended by Vortech/Paxton. You can probably get it cheaper on Amazon if you're looking for more.

Zrod 10-30w, but I also have an engine oil fed so that doesn't count.

That too. I do think that the S/C oil is a trans oil. It has that smell to it that makes it familiar and seem like it. Also, given the fact that it's a gear unit, it would only make sense.

Have you ever opened up a Procharger or Paxton unit? I believe there is gears and bearing inside. Like a 2 stroke dirt bike gearbox or turbo 400 or Glide. I have used type F in both with no issues.

Yea, when I separated the casing, it was all gears and ball bearings. That's why I'm thinking a oil like that may be ok. Just be sure to not overfill the unit. You'll build up too much pressure and then bye bye blower.

Why risk it? The blower oil is cheap. Order enough from summit or a dealer to last a few years and stick it on the shelf. No reason to risk it IMO. A blower rebuild starts around $650, so if risking it is worth that to you, then go for it, but at $11 or less a change I don't see the big deal.

It's not that it's a big deal. Was looking for something I could buy locally. A lot of these Yuppie's get hung up on buying special crap for their cars that's not needed. Do you think Paxton makes their own oil?? Hell no!!! Was thinking of sending it out to Blackstone and have it tested.

Should be able to find a local place that stocks it. I can think of 3-4 around here. You are in NJ, I bet ECS has it on the shelf.

I know that the oil that came with my Whipple was a clear oil and I am pretty sure it is a silicone base so it will not foam. I will buy the same oil. The manufacturer makes extensive tests to make sure oil is right for the application. My recommendation would be to use what they say.

Paxton doesn't make their own because it takes Vortech oil since they are the same company.
