Question LS3 CNC-PORTED HEADS & CAM KIT

Hey was wondering if anyone here has installed GM upgrade LS3 CNC-PORTED HEADS & CAM KIT on there SS. thanking about it or the Night Fury Cam Package for my next move on my SS. would have love to get the ZL1 but with limited funds just going to keep the SS and mod the hell out of it. Oh would a upgrade like this be a issue passing inspection in NY state. hopefully someone here has used one of these cam upgrades. Thanks

I have the cam and heads along with a underdrive pulley, roller rocker arms, vararam tune intake, headers w/3" exhaust and a 3200 stall converter, Rear wheel HP went up 140 hp. conversion from auto to manual trans gained another 25 hp.
dyno chart compares auto vs manual on the car with no other changes.

Keeping in mind that this is a "mild" cam, my personal opinion was that the heads were a great deal.

Cylinder heads make all the difference in the world, if you can afford them they are a big expense and everything that goes along with it to support them.

I would just have someone port my heads. If you insist on CNC porting then take them to someone that does that.

I bought the NF cam with the GM CNC ported heads and there wasnt enough PTV clearance so I had to change my cam...I was extremely pissed but I cant complain because my build was all on a budget... Just make sure your heads are CNC ported to the NF cam spec...I got the Gm CNC ported heads for 1K so I had no choice but to pull the trigger on them with that being said that doesnt mean you cant buy them and have them milled .30 more...

Not that there is anything really wrong with what GM offers, but in my opinion you can do better on the heads and cam specs, and still have great driveability.

We have two popular cams, our '545' cam and also our Phoenix cam - both have excellent driveability, choppy idles, and lay down great numbers. With heads they do about 495-505rwhp on a dyno jet with cold air intake & headers.

I prefer to use Advanced Induction for the porting and polishing, they handle all of our porting for shop work and also when we spec mail order packages as well. He charges $995 for his full 280cc package.

We also sell cam kits to go along with our cams, makes it easy as they include double valve springs (brian tooley), pushrods, all gaskets, timing chain, three bolt conversion kit, etc so no having to hunt everything down.

I would also suggest that you replace the oil pump (Melling 10296) and it doesn't hurt to do a comp trunion upgrade while you're in there. Let me know if you have any other questions. Also if you check out our Customer Build Blogs - link - we put up a lot of pics, dyno sheets, and videos so you can get an idea of what to expect from our products.

PS saw you are from Fredonia - you don't ever see that name pop up too much on the forums! Great town.

I just had a night fury installed. Are you saying I cannot use the GMPP CNC ported heads with my cam? (without having to be modified.) And why would you have to have these heads milled if my NF cam already works with my stock LS3 heads?

Hey guys, which CNC ported heads are you all talking about? I've seen several different kinds. I know TSP sells them, they are PRC. And I see Jegs offers them to. Here is the link: http://www.jegs.com/p/Chevrolet-Perf...11558/10002/-1

I also saw others from TEA and Lingenfelter. So which ones do you all have, recommend, and which are you all talking about?
