TOP DOWN

I live in Florida and since I have had my Camaro I notice about 90% of Camaro convertibles I see on the road have the top down.

While 80% of Mustang, Sebring and Toyota, etc. owners have the top up.

I cant remember the last time I drove mine with the top up,

Wait, i think it was when i backed it out to wash it.

What do you think is the reason for this ?

I live in Texas. With our heat and sun, more than half of the time I take her out the top stays up. Isn't Florida rather hot and muggy? Don't get me wrong, there are times that having the top down is great... but certainly not when it's going to result in a puddle of sweat on the seat after.

Here in Vegas it gets blistering hot, I like to see just how much of it I can stand before I put the top up.........109° is my highest record temp I can stand. However when the sun is down I always have the top down for the nice balmy drives.....,I just love it....
Side note: it was just beautiful this morning for my trip down to Cars & Coffee, I was just enjoying the crap out of it!

I live in PA and while it is not as hot and gooey as much as elsewhere, we do have our hot days. I have a 90 degree rule. If it gets that hot, the top goes up.

My top is down regardless of the temp. I bought a convertible to have the top down. If it was meant to be up, I would of bought a coupe. 45 is the lowest I will go as the P Zero's get to slippery on the road otherwise.

Believe me.......you will be whistling a whole different tune after about 5 minutes sitting in the blistering midday sun in stop and go traffic and the temp is 112° with the top down here in Vegas...

My wife yells "take off your hat mustang" (or whatever car) evertime we're our in the Camaro and see another ragtop with to top up.

I understand there's some days that just aren't the right weather for it, ours stays in the garage those days, but even on absolutely perfect 82 degree low humidity days we'll see more tops up than down. I just don't get why so many buy convertibles if they don't like them.

Just because the top is up does not mean we don't like them. That's almost like saying, "You have a bottle of whiskey in the house, why are you not drinking it? Don't you like the whiskey??" Sometimes one can like something without wanting to engage in it every single moment.

If the day i described above isn't good enough to put the top down, what is? There's a couple cars in town we see constantly, and have never seen the top down. One's a vw Beetle and the other a solara.

And I think the closer analogy would be You've bought a great bottle of whiskey, you got out shotglasses and poured everyone a double... And then just walk around the party carrying it, but not drinking.

If it's not raining most of the time my top is down. I have experienced "It's way to hot and muggy out" times but as weird as it feels to have top down + ac on, full blast well directed AC is usually OK.

That would be me (I don't drink).

In Texas, the sun is just way to intense "most" of the time to keep the top down. That said, I put the top down maybe 30% of the time I drive her... but then again, I've only put a few hundred miles on mine in the 4+ months I've owned it. It doesn't get out of the garage much, with little driving to do and 8 cars to pick from. Most daily errands end up getting done in one of the truck/SUV's. I remember telling the dealer when I bought it that I might rack up 5000 miles over the next ten years with it.
