General FWD drive-train advice please
My 2008 Cadillac DTS has lost the transmission. I swapped motors and transmissions on the older W body (Regal, Cutlass Supreme, Grand Prix, and Lumina) 14+ years ago. Has much changed on these FWD GMs? Are things easier or harder being in the electronic age?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Last edited by jgray1978; 09-30-2014 at 11:59 AM. |

They have FWD caddies? Anyway for FWD I don't think much has changed over the years when it comes to removing the transmissions. I changed out the clutch in my 02 Focus in 2006. Pretty straight forward. It recommended removing the subframe on the car which I only loosened and was able to get the transmission out.
I'm not familiar with GM fwd, it could be a bit more crowded under there requiring you to move anything in the way, out of the way. But beyond that it wouldn't be a very hard task to do the transmission. FWD will always be a bitch though compared to rwd. |
