I was living in an apartment while I was going to school, and it sucked man. Just gotta keep up on your washing and clay bar/polishing/waxing more often than if it was in a garage imo.

Don't park under trees, they will ruin your clear coat and paint.

I've heard good and bad about covers that is why I haven't used one yet.

I do know from what I have read you need to spend in the $300 - $500 range for a good quality one. I always worry the back and forth motion from the wind will scratch the paint as well as taking it on and off. Plus storing the darn thing and taking the care to make sure the outside of the cover never comes in contact with the inside of the cover contaminating it.

There is thread here in the Corvette forum:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...car-cover.html

This cover is one a poster in there recommends and it does look good. Main benefit is it folds up compact for storage.

I may try one as I am anal when it comes to a clean car and it rains and I am 30 minutes giving it a wipe down before I will head out.

Cover or no cover depends upon the weather where you live. Water and dirt do not bother me as much as the extreme Texas sun. For that reason, for the cars I cannot get into the garage (I have many) I use the Covercraft Sunbrella cover. I highly recommend. It's not cheap, but will be fitted to your car and will sit fairly snug and therefore reduce the movement due to wind. I am working on a driveway extension and carport, but am not there yet (still shopping prices). A cheap cover WILL damage your paint - years ago I experienced that. Do not just get a universal cover and also watch the material it is made from. The Sunbrella is a nice, soft, and heavy material that I believe reduces the chances of it causing damage. Again, you have to decide which potential wear on your car will be worse. Definitely where I am, the sun is something to avoid.

Be thankful you have a white car and not black.

Not trying to be an azz, but couldn't you have gotten an apartment with a garage?

Florida and no garage?

Definitely get an outdoor car cover and keep it waxed because the sun will destroy the clear coat.

Sound judgment. If my car's protection from elements was important to me, a garage or covered parking would be a prerequisite to apt. selection. Putting covers on and off would get real old fast on a daily driver.

I just got my cover about a week ago. I got the Covercraft "Noah" and I can tell you that my car sitting in full sun under the cover stays cool. It is suppose to be one of the best on the market for UV protection. I got mine thru Summit Racing and paid $420 for it. That's a lot for a car cover in my opinion but if it protects my car I guess its worth it. Covercraft does make some covers that are cheaper so you don't have to spend $400 bucks.

Maybe you dont all realize how apartments work here in Florida with garages. $90 a month to get one (current and former apartment) and i had to wait a year before one opened up for me to move into. Possible for him to be in my safe area the cost wasnt feasible as they are not cheap
