slight delay when downshifting

Sometimes when I need to pass someone quickly or squeeze in a left hand turn with traffic oncoming I floor it and its like the transmission needs to think for maybe a second (its probably less but it feels like a second) before deciding what gear it wants to go to and then it takes off. Anyone else experienced this? I kind of just assumed it is a little slow shifting for an auto.

This is pretty typical since it is usually downshifting 2 gears and there is a ton of computer components that make this happen.

I hear you...I don't expect it to be instant, but this car seems to take longer than other auto's I've owned. Maybe its because this auto is a 6 speed.

I suppose it also may be due to the DBW system?

Is this in D or M? I drive in Sport mode 100% of the time and as soon as I start getting on the gas the car starts downshifting... doesn't really seem to be any unusual hesitation...

If it was in Drive, Try the Sport mode it is much better than Drive....

It happens in sport mode every bit as much as drive.

So you guys haven't had any sort of lag like I'm describing?

I know automatic transmissions aren't instantaneous but this does seem a little longer than it should be. Its like the car just pauses for a second, then it downshifts. I seem to notice this the most when i'm rolling around 10-15 mph then need to get on it really quickly to pull into traffic or something.

It doesn't do this all of the time, only sometimes. I can't duplicate it consistently.

Could be partly due to the AFM having to dis-engage that you are noticing a little delay? Not sure.

I haven't noticed any lag when i step on it.. but then again Im always in M (sport mode)

I was having these issues early on when I was driving in D all the time. Now I pretty much drive in S. I like it so much better.

Sport mode is when you put the car in "M" mode and DON'T USE the tapshifters... so the gear lever is marked M but on the dash the gear indicator actually says "S". As soon as you use the tapshifters it switches to M1, M2, etc.

Wonder if it's worth disconnecting the battery and resetting the computer...

Think that might do it? I'll give it a shot tonight. Thanks for the idea.
