2014 Manual Transmission Linkage Recall 14368

I have a 2014 ZL1 M6 and got a recall letter today to inspect the shift linkage retaining clip for proper installation. Apparently it could be installed improperly and could result in the trans stuck in gear.

It is Canadian recall #14368.

Anyone else get this letter and have it done? I don't particularly want to take my ZL1 into a crappy dealer to have them do more damage than good.

I recieved one as well yesterday... I'm thinking of calling the service dept to find out how much work they need to do to fix this... Apparently the clips were installed backwards or upside down =-/ and new parts need to be ordered so this work needs to be scheduled.... Kinda sucks but better than running the risk of it locking up in gear i guess

So, are they talking about the clips that hold the pins in on the shifter rod ends, whether where it meets the tranny or at the shifter?

Edit: I just checked by VIN, and my 2014 does not show this recall. Maybe one specific assembly line employee was doing this, and he/she only worked on a limited number of these

Mine was 4/28 TPW so April as well.

It sounds like it might be an external issue, but if it requires going into the transmission, I would rather not have it done.

Just got mine today...2014 2SS/RS LS3/M6
I will say it shifts pretty crappy...i have the ZL1 shifter also. Clutch engagement is unpredictable at best. Bouncy clutch upon release most of the time.

Got the letter as well. I called my dealership, the advisor said it's the first time he had heard of it and was going to get with his parts department to make sure they had the parts in case they were needed. Waiting for him to call me back.

See if he is willing to share the inspection and repair procedure with you.

Just heard back from my dealership. He said they basically put the car up on the rack, inspect the clip and pin, if they are installed properly the car is good to go. If they need to be replaced it'll take approximately 1-1.5 hrs.

I couldn't set up an appointment because they don't have the parts in stock and my advisor is still waiting for the parts guy to let him know how long it would be to get the parts.

Can you find out: Is it the pin that holds the actual shifter to the change rod underneath the underside boot?

I checked again today, and no recall for my 2014 1LE . . .

Will have to ask when he calls back. He did say it's not on all 2014 models so I guess it depends on when your built date was. Mine was April 2014

Thanks 760! Sounds like I can check this when I change my oil tomorrow instead of a dealer trip.

Had my inspection done today. No need to replace the clip. I was in and out in about 40 minutes.
