2013 bolt-on LT vs 1985 Gran Fury AHB
So a good buddy of mine just came across a car that he says he's always wanted. It's a 1985 plymouth Gran Fury AHB. He's always saying how old cars will smoke new cars any day. I usually don't argue and I just tell him when he gets the old car let me know and I'll race! I have the 2LT RS fully bolt on. Intake, HFCs, exhaust, ported manifold, manifold spacer, and ported throttle body. I asked him "so how fast does it go?" And he responded with "faster than your Camero"(I cringed at Camero). So I asked him about the engine and he sent me this. He's being a smart ads because he knows that this is all gibberish to me lol. So who will win in a 0-60, 1/4, or track setting?
Here's what he sent: Engine is 360 bored .40 over, 340 X heads milled, ported and polished. Roller rockers w/ screw in studs and 202/160 valves, 10.5.1 compression, Mopar Performance Purple Cam specs: 241/241 w/ lift of 484/484, Mopar aluminum dual plane intake, Barry Grant Speed Demon 650 carb. Has a Mopar trap door air cleaner. Transmission is a built 727 with shift kit and a 2000 stall Has a 8 1/4" Sure-Grip rear end with a Auburn and Randy's ring and pinion 3:55 gears Also has Power steering cooler, trans cooler, 11 inch rear drums and big front rotors. New tires, brakes, gas tank, lines, Custom Dual Exhaust, Mopar performance electronic ignition upgrades of control unit, ballast resistor etc... Now I love my car, and don't care if his is faster, but what am I going up against here? Lol |

Wow, that's a nicely built fury. You won't who's faster at the drag strip until you race. I'm guessing you will leave him way behind on the road course.

If you had an ss I would say you guys would be even. He will spank you down the track. I have a friend with a 75 camaro that walked me bad... and I have an ss with a cam...
Around a track you will be so far ahead he wont see you Your intake wont make much of a difference... but these do HFCs, exhaust, ported manifold, manifold spacer, and ported throttle body Still not enough to match him making around 430 horse and gobs more torque |

I say you beat him in the 60ft, but he gaps you pretty bad by the end.

Thanks for the responses. So how exactly does that work? He would stank me at the drag strip, but I would handedly win at the track? Wouldn't his high HP and TQ come in just as handy at the auto cross track?

Suspension! The 1LE package for the SS will leave the regular SS behind on the road course, but not so much at the drag strip.

Has a nice built motor in it. You sure will lose in a 1/4 if you both are equal drivers. It will be a little closer than he thinks.
