FRONT o2s not working after header install?
Ever since I installed my headers on Saturday I've been getting codes for both front o2 sensors. I had codes for the rears as well but those got deleted when I got tuned last night and now I just have codes for the front still. Tuner was saying that they weren't showing any activity at first while he was tuning, but shortly after he said that they kicked on and he didn't have any issues for the rest of the tuning session. So we finished up and I left and only a couple minutes later I get a CEL again for both front O2s. Anyone else experienced this before? Did both O2s just crap out on me for some reason after the headers went on?

Time for some new ones. Buy them from Walmart. Cheap as hell from there.

The pins are easily bent at the connector and will go flat and not engage. Check that before buying new, both going out the same day is not normal.

Agree with that! Check your connections. We tons of headers and very seldom do I hear anything like that.

What codes are you getting?
Do you get the issues resolved from your other thread? |

I'm getting codes for heater circuit on both sides. Bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 2 sensor 1. Did not resolve the issue from the other thread yet, but hopefully today I can do that.

Somebody, correct me if I am wrong, but when you install longtube headers you are placing the 02 sensors further down range which would cause the front 02 sensors to throw a code. This is because they are further away and take longer to heat up. Now your car is basically not detecting anything, because it does not have time enough to heat up. When you have the car tuned the tuner will delete the rears all together and basically tell the computer to wait longer so the front 02's have time to heat up. Sounds like tune problem. However, I have had 02's go bad during installs too. It happens. Usually, just one not two.

I agree that the connectors behind the heads are a PITA to get to and could easily just not be completely connected.

Yes the code most likely is a Delayed reading code for the front 02s as the response is slower as they are farther down stream and deleting the CEL code is a must in the programming, I had it happen to mine in about 20 miles, just returned to tuner and he did twenty seconds worth of hp tuning as he knew right where to go..... Some never have the code on some headers is the deal though supposedly.
