Ohio-Speed Catch Can Questions

Does anyone have the Billet Custom Oil Catch Can BC-175 from Ohio-Speed installed or heard anything good or bad about it? I searched the forum for a review but could not find anything.

The description advertises that it increases performance and fuel economy. Has anyone seen this from a catch can?

Thanks in advance for the help.

It's not going to increase anything as much as keep the longevity of what you already have.

Thanks. The catch can I am looking at is on sale for $89.00, down from $150.00. I understand you get what you pay for, but is a good catch can or should I send the extra money for a better one? I would like to save the money to save up for a mod that increases power if at all possible.

If I could do it all over again, I would have gone with Elite Engineering.

Are you having an issue with your RX can?

Can't speak for him, but I'm tossing out my second try with an RX catch can, complete garbage. Got a MightyMouse one on order.

I will stay away from the RX catch can. I still haven't heard anything good or bad on the Ohio-Speed catch can. Here is the link:

Nothing bad about my RX other than its stupid drain design. Easy to fix though with a different drain plug.

I have had mine for some time and no issues. The drain on mine has a lever type valve with a drain hose attached. It works great for me so I was curious. However, like others have stated, their customer service is another story. That said, if I ever needed another one it wouldn't be an RX.

I have the RX one, no issues, other than the drain hose fell off during one of my oil changes as I was opening the valve, oil spilling everywhere. I place a small hose clamp on it and all is good now.

As for the Ohio speed one, contact Jim at Ohio speed and ask him his thoughts. can't hurt.

I am a believer in catch cans, but I have never heard convincing evidence that the name brands are better than generic. Combined with the fact that the can in question (Ohio Speed) seems to be from a real speed shop, it is very intriguing . . .

The catch can link listed above is the Billet Custom Catch Can. Same part number and all.

http://www.billetcustom.com/ProductD...uctCode=BC-175

We sell them as well with all the pretty anodized finishes.

Works just like any of the other catch cans on the lower price point spectrum. Most all of them do the same thing, some do it better than others.

I've used the Apex, LG/Elite (same exact can), and older style dual RX catch cans with good sucess in builds in our shops.

Aside from those three, all of them do the same as the ebay ones. Some just look a little better with nicer finishes, brackets and so on.

Apex's and LG/Elite's use a real nice filtration system inside that actually do a really good job of catching oil and allowing air to transition smoothly back into the engine.

Ivan, so just to be clear, you're saying there is a performance difference (performance in how they pull the oil, not the vehicle performance) between the cheaper catch cans and those sold by Elite or RX?
